Job Description


We are seeking a Mechanical Design Release Engineer to support the design, development, validation, and release of transmission, driveline, and other automotive mechanical systems. While direct experience with transmission and driveline components is preferred, candidates with strong automotive mechanical systems Design & Release experience will also be considered. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Design Release Engineer with a strong background in automotive product development, capable of taking ownership of engineering activities from design through validation and production. This role requires someone who can effectively collaborate with CAE, NVH, durability, manufacturing, packaging, suppliers, and other cross-functional teams, while also having the ability to investigate and resolve real-world vehicle and component issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Design & Release activities for transmission, driveline, or automotive mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with CAE, NVH, Durability, Vehicle Dynamics, Packaging, Manufacturing, and Suppliers throughout product development.
  • Develop and execute DVP&R activities, including component, bench, and vehicle validation.
  • Perform root cause analysis and support warranty investigations for field and plant issues.
  • Support supplier design reviews, technical approvals, and engineering best practices.
  • Develop and maintain DFMEA, DVP, and engineering documentation.
  • Create System and Sub-System Technical Specifications (SSTS/TTS) and align requirements with suppliers.
  • Drive continuous improvement and warranty cost reduction initiatives.
  • Support local vehicle and plant investigations as needed.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–3+ years of Design & Release Engineering experience in automotive product development.
  • Strong background in mechanical automotive systems (electrical experience is not required).
  • Experience with validation, DVP&R, and cross-functional product development.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following is highly desirable:
  • Transmissions / Driveline Systems /Power Transfer Units (PTU) /Rear Drive Modules (RDM)/Gear Reducers / Axles/Transfer Cases / Differentials / Bearings/Torque


  • Experience using root cause analysis tools such as Fishbone, Is/Is Not, 3L5Y, or Red X.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DFMEA and DVP&R
  • Knowledge of NX or CATIA
  • Experience collaborating with CAE and virtual analysis teams
  • Familiarity with NVH, durability, and in-vehicle diagnostics
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Experience supporting warranty investigations and product improvements
  • DFSS Green Belt certification is a plus
