Diesel Technician

Job Summary: Completes troubleshooting, repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop independently while coaching and developing less experienced technicians We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in (Portland, OR). Will make an impact in the following ways: Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products Maintain own tools In order to be successful in this role you will need the following: Completes complex internal engine repairs Performs complex unassisted engine overhauls Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation - A current valid CDL is required for this role. - This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free of major violations - This role is subject to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) drug and alcohol testing requirements and on going random drug and alcohol testing - This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical - This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use - Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age Education, Licenses, Certifications: Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred) Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution Locally valid driving permit (Preferred) This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. Experience: Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred) Compensation and Benefits Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
