Job Description Overview The Digital Engineering function within the Global Technology Centre (GTC) supports the digital transformation of infrastructure delivery across the highways, rail, utilities, water, energy, and aviation sectors. The team combines information management, digital delivery, computational design, automation, data analytics, and emerging technologies to improve how infrastructure assets are planned, designed, constructed, and operated throughout their lifecycle. As a Digital Engineer, you will play an active role in supporting and delivering Digital Engineering services across a range of infrastructure projects. Working as part of multidisciplinary project teams, you will contribute to the implementation of information management processes, digital delivery workflows, computational design solutions, and data-driven decision-making initiatives. This role is intended for professionals who have developed foundational Digital Engineering capabilities and are ready to apply them independently while continuing to expand their technical expertise and project delivery experience. Your role Information Management Support the implementation of project information management processes in accordance with project requirements and organisational standards. Contribute to the development and maintenance of Information Delivery Plans (IDPs), project information workflows, and Common Data Environment (CDE) processes. Support information quality reviews, audits, and validation activities. Assist project teams in applying information management principles aligned with ISO 19650. Contribute to digital handover and asset information deliverables where required. Support multidisciplinary teams in maintaining structured, accurate, and accessible project information. Digital Delivery Deliver Digital Engineering activities across infrastructure projects including highways, rail, utilities, water, energy, and aviation sectors. Support model federation, coordination reviews, clash detection, issue management, and design collaboration activities. Contribute to the preparation and delivery of model-based project outputs and digital deliverables. Support project teams in the application of BIM and digital delivery workflows. Participate in project mobilisation activities and digital delivery planning. Collaborate with engineering disciplines to improve coordination and information exchange. Computational Design & Automation Develop and maintain computational design workflows using approved Digital Engineering tools. Contribute to the development of visual programming solutions using platforms such as Dynamo, Grasshopper, Generative Components, or similar technologies. Support the automation of repetitive engineering and information management processes. Assist in developing reusable digital workflows, templates, and tools that improve project efficiency and consistency. Collaborate with project teams to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement. Support the testing, validation, and deployment of digital solutions. Data & Analytics Support the collection, analysis, and visualisation of project and engineering data. Develop dashboards, reports, and visualisations that support project delivery and decision-making. Contribute to the management and validation of engineering, BIM, GIS, and project information datasets. Assist project teams in identifying trends, risks, and opportunities through data-driven analysis. Support the integration of information from multiple digital sources to improve project visibility and reporting. Emerging Technologies Maintain awareness of emerging technologies relevant to Digital Engineering and infrastructure delivery. Support innovation initiatives involving Digital Twins, GIS, reality capture, LiDAR, drone technologies, and AI-enabled workflows. Contribute to pilot projects, proof-of-concept activities, and technology evaluations where required. Support the implementation of new digital workflows and technologies within project environments. Share knowledge and lessons learned from innovation activities with project teams. Professional Development & Collaboration Build effective working relationships with project teams and stakeholders. Support knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement initiatives across the Digital Engineering community. Demonstrate accountability for assigned deliverables and project outcomes. Contribute to the development of Digital Engineering standards, templates, and best practices. Actively pursue professional development opportunities and maintain awareness of industry developments. About you Typically 2–5 years of experience within the infrastructure, engineering, construction, or built environment sectors. Experience supporting Digital Engineering, BIM, information management, or digital delivery activities on infrastructure projects. Working knowledge of BIM processes, digital delivery workflows, and information management principles. Understanding of Common Data Environments and project information management practices. Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams. Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills. Experience working on highways, rail, utilities, water, energy, or aviation projects. Familiarity with ISO 19650 principles and information management frameworks. Experience developing computational design workflows or automation solutions. Exposure to GIS, Digital Twins, reality capture, or data analytics initiatives. Participation in innovation, research, or digital transformation activities. Understanding of asset information and digital handover requirements. Essential Experience with one or more of the following: Autodesk Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, or Bentley Open Roads / Open Buildings Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), BIM 360, or Bentley ProjectWise Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power BI Desirable Experience with one or more of the following: Computational design and visual programming tools such as Dynamo, Grasshopper, Generative Components, or FME GIS platforms such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or InfraWorks Model coordination and design review platforms such as Revizto, iTwin, or similar technologies Construction sequencing, digital twin, or reality capture platforms such as Synchro and related solutions Automation and workflow tools such as Power Automate, Power Apps, Python, or equivalent technologies Educational Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in: Civil Engineering Construction Management Architecture or related disciplines including: Geomatics Surveying Engineering Technology Infrastructure and Built Environment disciplines Preferred Postgraduate qualification in: Construction Management Civil Engineering specialisations Architecture Built Environment disciplines or related fields.
