About the Position:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and capable leader to join the Shire of Broome in the role of
Director Development and Community.
The Director Development and Community will be responsible for providing leadership and delivering strategic and community outcomes and exceptional customer service in the areas of Community Engagement, Marketing and Communications, Place Activation, Economic Development, Special Projects, Town Planning, Building, Environmental Health, Emergency, Community Safety and Ranger services.

About You
Our ideal candidate will have
- Experience at a senior management level of at least 5 years
- Capacity to deal with complex community, development, economic and regulatory services issues including the formulation of appropriate action strategies and to provide high level advice to the CEO and Council
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills together with demonstrated advocacy and negotiation skills
- Ability to contribute to the strategic direction of a diverse organisation
- Well-developed leadership and management skills
- Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Health, Building, Community and Economic Development or related area. Membership of or eligibility for membership of, a relevant professional body.
- Possession of or progress towards a post graduate qualification in management (Desirable)

Desired Skills And Experience
Working for the Shire of Broome means you will enjoy:
- $190,000 - $210,000 base salary per annum (5 year contract)
- In addition to base salary there are generous allowances, including Broome Location Allowance ($20,000 pa), Housing Allowance (Rental) of $28,080 pa or Housing Allowance (Home Ownership) $33,750 pa and Utilities Reimbursement Allowance of $6,000 and Travel reimbursement Allowance of $6,500 pa, as well as employer matched superannuation up to a total of 15.5%.
- Leave entitlements well above industry minimums, including 6 weeks Annual Leave and 6 x Executive Leave days - giving you every opportunity to enjoy that Broome lifestyle!
