About Masset, BC
The small village of Masset is the largest town on Haida Gwaii. Located at the northern end of Graham Island, the largest of the more than 150 significant islands that comprise Haida Gwaii, Masset is the northern gateway to North Beach and Naikoon Provincial Park. About the Opportunity
HGSCP is looking for a full-time Transition House Director to join our team in Masset, BC. This is a 35-hour-per-week position, generally working Monday to Friday, with rotating weekend on-call coverage for emergencies.
Please note: This is a confirmed upcoming vacancy, with the full-time position beginning 1 January 2027. There may also be an opportunity for the successful candidate to complete part-time orientation and cross-training in November and December 2026, with some training available virtually. We are beginning the search early so candidates relocating to Haida Gwaii have plenty of time to plan their move and settle into the community.
Reporting to the Executive Director, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Transition House, ensuring services are delivered safely, confidentially, and in accordance with the organization’s policies, ethics, philosophy, and contractual obligations.
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for leading the Transition House Support Worker team and overseeing programs that provide safe shelter and support for women experiencing gender-based violence, homelessness, and substance use concerns. This includes the Supportive Recovery program, which provides moderate-level residential support for women preparing to enter substance use treatment or returning to the community following treatment.

About You
To qualify, you will have 3+ years of direct program delivery experience in social services or a related sector, along with previous supervisory, leadership, or program management experience. You will also bring relevant education, training, or an equivalent combination of experience in the human or social services field.

HGSCP is particularly interested in applicants who understand the realities of working in a small, remote community and who bring strong local knowledge, transferable leadership experience, or a willingness to grow into parts of the role.
