UMass Memorial Medical Center, the clinical partner of the UMass Chan Medical School is seeking a board certified gynecologic oncologist at the rank of associate professor or professor to head the division of Gynecology Oncology. This candidate should be an accomplished leader, manager, and administrator. They will be responsible for directing a division of four gynecologic oncologists and one nurse practitioner, participating in clinical practice, leading quality, education and research initiatives, developing faculty, and maintaining recruitment. UMass Memorial Medical Center, located in scenic central Massachusetts, is an 818 bed tertiary care center serving the central and western Massachusetts region. University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, ranked best in the Northeast for primary care education, is nationally known for its Nobel and Lasker prize winning research faculty and is highly ranked among medical schools for NIH funding. The department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has six robust subspecialty divisions and 24 resident physicians that are actively involved in the clinical care of our diverse gynecologic oncology patient population. Division members practice full spectrum gynecologic oncology, including surgical and chemotherapy care, participate in medical student and resident education, and have opportunities for clinical research. The division of Gynecologic Oncology is a member of NRG Oncology and the Gynecologic Oncology Group Foundation/Partners. Clinical, translational, and basic science research is encouraged. Key Highlights Serve as the academic leader for the division which consists of four fellowship trained gynecologic oncologists and one advanced practice clinician. Lead and guide a complementary team of specialty trained nurses and clinical team members working together to provide our diverse population of patients with multidisciplinary cancer care in collaboration with radiation oncology, genetics, palliative care, plastic surgery and a dedicated nurse navigator. Lead and contribute to furthering the excellence and vibrancy of the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in partnership with the department chair. The division director plays an instrumental role in advancing departmental and division initiatives including delivery of high quality, evidence based clinical care, development and execution of the educational mission across undergraduate medical education, residents and community physicians, and the advancement of research initiatives in the division and department. Fostering a culture of excellence with mentoring and development of faculty, trainee, and community clinicians is essential. Partner with the department chair, the vice chair of clinical services and the chief administrative officer to ensure financial stability and expansion of the division and of the gynecologic cancer care we provide Foster relationships outside of UMass Memorial to expand gynecologic oncology in Central Massachusetts and beyond. Qualifications Board-certified or board-eligible by the ABOG in OB/GYN/Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship training in gynecologic oncology Academic/research details in gynecologic oncology Must hold a MDMD or DO degree, completion of an ACGME-accredited OB/GYN residency, and an approved fellowship in gynecologic oncology.
