At Caterpillar's East Peoria facility, we manufacture and assemble Track Type Tractors that support critical infrastructure, mining, and construction projects around the world. As an EHS Senior Specialist , you'll play a key role in protecting the environment, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advancing sustainable manufacturing practices while partnering with teams across the business to drive continuous improvement. Additional Information Primary Location: East Peoria, IL. Relocation Assistance: Domestic relocation assistance is available. Travel Requirements: Up to 10% travel (domestic and/or international) may be required. Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. What You'll Do As an EHS Senior Specialist, you will serve as a subject matter expert on environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives that support Caterpillar's East Peoria manufacturing facilities. In this role, you will: Lead environmental compliance efforts by interpreting regulations, conducting audits, inspections, and ensuring adherence to EPA, IEPA, OSHA, and Caterpillar standards. Identify, assess, and mitigate environmental risks by investigating concerns, implementing corrective actions, and reviewing new products, equipment, and processes. Develop and maintain environmental programs, procedures, and management systems that support operational excellence and long-term sustainability goals. Partner with operations, engineering, maintenance, and leadership teams to drive environmental performance and continuous improvement initiatives . Monitor environmental metrics and prepare regulatory reports while developing training and awareness programs for employees and stakeholders. Champion a culture of sustainability and environmental stewardship across the facility through proactive problem-solving and process improvement. Partner with cross-functional teams across operations, engineering, quality, and leadership to solve complex challenges. Influence environmental culture and continuous improvement efforts while reducing risk and enhancing facility performance. What Skills You Will Have Sustainability: Utilize sustainability principles to support environmental initiatives, compliance programs, and Caterpillar's commitment to responsible business practices. Risk Management: Assess environmental risks, interpret compliance requirements, and implement effective risk mitigation strategies across the facility. Collaboration: Build strong partnerships with employees, supervisors, and cross-functional teams to achieve environmental and operational objectives. Decision Making & Critical Thinking: Analyze complex environmental issues, evaluate alternatives, and develop practical solutions that support compliance and business goals. Interpersonal Effectiveness: Establish credibility with stakeholders, influence positive outcomes, and foster productive working relationships at all levels of the organization. Change Leadership: Support environmental transformation initiatives by helping teams adapt to changing regulations, processes, and business priorities. Environmental Compliance: Apply knowledge of environmental regulations, auditing practices, reporting requirements, and management systems to maintain compliance and improve performance. Top Candidates Will Also Have Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. 5+ years of environmental experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong knowledge of environmental compliance programs , including air, waste, water, and regulatory reporting requirements, with experience managing environmental risk and continuous improvement initiatives. Experience conducting environmental audits, inspections, and regulatory assessments to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company environmental standards. Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams , influence stakeholders, and drive environmental improvements across operations. EPA Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) experience and working knowledge of environmental management systems and sustainability best practices. Summary Pay Range: $112,710.00 - $169,060.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
