Electric Operations Leadership Talent Pipeline General Summary of Job Responsibilities Consumers Energy is building a pipeline of current and future leaders to support Low Voltage Distribution Operations across the organization. We are seeking candidates with experience leading or background in electric transmission, distribution, metering, customer field services, construction, maintenance, restoration, training, and operational support functions. Positions may be filled at the Supervisor, Manager, Senior Manager, Director, or Executive Director level based on qualifications, demonstrated leadership capabilities, and business needs. As an Electric Operations Leader, you will provide leadership for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of electric service while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, operational standards, and company policies. Depending on level, responsibilities may range from leading front-line operations teams to influencing statewide strategy, operational performance, workforce planning, customer service, storm restoration, regulatory compliance, and organizational effectiveness. #LI-TR1 Essential Duties and Responsibilities Depending on level and assignment, responsibilities may include: Leading electric operations teams responsible for construction, maintenance, customer service, emergency restoration, outage response, and system reliability. Providing leadership and direction to union and/or salaried employees, supervisors, managers, and operational leadership teams. Driving safety excellence and ensuring adherence to company policies, work methods, operating procedures, and regulatory requirements. Leading emergency response and storm restoration efforts, including participation in Incident Command System (ICS) roles and on-call rotations. Developing employees and leaders through coaching, mentoring, workforce planning, succession planning, and performance management. Managing operational performance, budgets, reliability metrics, customer commitments, and continuous improvement initiatives. Building partnerships with Supply Chain, Engineering, Planning, Fleet, Facilities, Safety, Finance, Regulatory Affairs, municipalities, industry organizations, and other internal and external stakeholders. Leading organizational change, strategic initiatives, operational planning, and process improvement efforts that support company objectives and customer expectations. Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Technical, Utility Operations, Construction Management, or a related field. [OR] Associate’s degree or High School Diploma/GED may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree with additional related electric utility, operations, construction, or leadership experience. Experience in electric transmission, electric distribution, electric metering, utility operations, construction, maintenance, field service, engineering support, or related utility functions. Demonstrated leadership experience leading employees, crews, teams, projects, or operational initiatives. Knowledge of safety practices, regulatory compliance, operational procedures, and workforce engagement. Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to lead in a fast-paced operational environment, including emergency response and storm restoration activities. Preferred Qualifications Experience leading unionized workforces. Experience managing supervisors, managers, or multiple operational teams. Knowledge of utility operations, outage management, restoration practices, and incident command structures. Experience with workforce planning, budget management, operational metrics, and strategic initiatives. Continuous improvement, Lean, change management, or process improvement experience. Experience collaborating with regulatory agencies, municipalities, industry organizations, or external stakeholders. Position Level Determination Opportunities may be filled at the Supervisor, Manager, Senior Manager level Director or Executive Director. Placement will be determined based on the candidate's education, leadership experience, technical expertise, demonstrated capabilities, and organizational need. Typical candidates may possess: Supervisor Level: 2+ years of related electrical or leadership experience. Manager Level: 4+ years of related electrical or leadership experience. Senior Manager Level: 7+ years of leadership experience within utility operations, construction management, project management, finance, or related disciplines. Experience driving statewide or regional operational initiatives. Director Level: 10+ years of direct supervisory, operations, and construction experience. Experience leading large operational organizations, overseeing multiple functional areas, managing significant budgets, and influencing statewide outcomes. Executive Director Level: 12+ years of extensive operational leadership experience with responsibility for strategic direction, regulatory compliance, organizational performance, and statewide operational execution.
