Project Overview: Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Job Summary: The Electrical Commissioning and Startup (CSU) Engineer will assist in the technical direction and oversight during the start-up, testing, and troubleshooting of high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage electrical systems, and energization of electrical equipment. In this role you will assist in the planning and execution of commissioning activities from construction completion through system handover to operations, ensuring work is performed safely and on schedule. The role ensures systems are installed correctly, meet design requirements, operate safely, and are ready for operations. This position works closely with engineering, construction, vendors, subcontractors, and operations teams to verify electrical systems meet all requirements. Compliance: Ensure all company processes and procedures, regulatory requirements, and environmental safety standards are adhered to during the execution of work. #LI-AA1 Major Responsibilities: Commissioning Planning Develop Electrical Commissioning Plans and Procedures. Review design documents, specifications, electrical single line diagrams, electrical panel schedules, equipment submittals, and vendor documentation. Support development of commissioning schedules and turnover strategies. Participate in Constructability, HAZOP, and Operational Readiness Reviews. System Verification Confirm equipment installation and testing requirements. Verify equipment labels, identification, and assets. Review electrical equipment data sheets and records. Verify equipment accessibility. Ensure safety interlocks and mechanical protections are functional. Commissioning Execution Perform electrical system inspections and verification activities. Verify installation against approved drawings and specifications. Conduct walkdowns and punch-list management. Verify completion status. Coordinate system turnover from Construction to Commissioning. Documentation and Quality Develop and execute commissioning procedures and check sheets. Complete Electrical Completion Certificates. Generate System Turnover Packages (STOs). Review subcontractor turnover documentation. Maintain commissioning databases and digital turnover systems. Major Responsibilities(Contd.): Vendor and Contractor Coordination Coordinate OEM vendor startups. Interface with construction contractors and trade partners. Monitor commissioning progress and resolve technical issues. Participate in daily coordination meetings. Safety and Compliance Support implementation of LOTO procedures. Participate in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) reviews. Ensure compliance with project EHS requirements. Promote a zero-incident safety culture. Typical Deliverables Requirements: Electrical Completion Check Sheets System Boundary Drawings Turnover Packages Functional Test Procedures Commissioning Reports Punch List Reports Startup Readiness Reviews Control System Acceptance Documentation Education and Experience Requirements: Grade I: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in mechanical engineering or related discipline with less than 1 year of relevant experience or 4-5 years of relevant work experience in mission critical facilities. Grade II: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in mechanical engineering or related discipline and 2-4 years of relevant experience in mission critical facilities or 5-7 years of relevant work experience in mission critical facilities. Required Knowledge and Skills: Ability to read and understand Single Line Drawings, Network Drawings and Schematics, Panel Schedules, Data Sheets and, and Equipment Vendor Drawings. Knowledge of various electrical systems and equipment to include substations, meter and relay, electrical switch gear, transformers, electrical panels, and Electrical Power Management Software (EPMS).
