Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Senior Electrical / Electro-Mechanical engineering technician – level 3 or 4 to support numerous programs to work at the Elkton, Maryland location. This individual should have strong skills with computers, instrumentation, test equipment, assembly, measurements and the ability to work with mechanical or electrical design drawings. Coordinates with members of multi‐functional team to execute test setups as well as complete testing on electronic systems, rocket motors, and rocket motor controls. The Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Discover charming small towns, parks with miles of trails, specialty and antique shops, award winning restaurants, and inns. You can hike, bike, camp, bird watch, ride horseback, or drop a fishing line. Five rivers, Chesapeake Bay and the C&D Canal can be explored by boat or by land. Experience panoramic views from Turkey Point Lighthouse on a bluff overlooking the Bay, or from the banks of the C&D Canal where ships from around the globe cruise. https://www.ccgov.org/government/tourism Position: This position works closely with Engineering and Testing to manufacture, configure and execute testing operations including troubleshooting equipment, setup, assembly, fixturing, testing, equipment maintenance, and documenting setup and test results. Assists Engineers and other Test Technicians with projects through building or procuring test equipment, setup, performing testing and process validations. The ideal candidate should be proficient in many, and able to quickly become proficient in the following: · Provide technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks · Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data · Constructs, calibrates, adjusts and maintains equipment, components, devices or systems. · Works from schematics, engineering drawings and technical instructions. · Assist engineers and scientists as they create, modify, and test products and processes. · Sets up and configures test equipment, systems, test articles, and software · Perform tests/experiments and records data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis · Utilizes various test equipment for data gathering · Reports data in prescribed format · Perform routine calculations using Excel or other related software and proficient in MS Office · Generates reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics) · Utilizes computer-aided design and drafting equipment · Manufacture of wiring harnesses and cable assemblies. Candidate to be hired at the level of demonstrated skills, experience, education, and competency. Basic qualifications level 3 · Four years of related experience or a combination of related experience and related education. · Requires knowledge of electrical and electronic theory, the ability to apply that knowledge to duties involved in engineering functions such as design, development, evaluation, testing, installation and maintenance of electronic equipment. · Experience with test equipment and systems’ interfaces, including installation, troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs and maintenance of both analog and digital data acquisition systems. · Experience must include: reading and interpreting schematic diagrams, operating a variety of test equipment, duties such as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, on electronic equipment, or similar functions. · The ability to setup and install complex rocket motor test arrangements using engineering direction, drawings and instructions. · Experience with mechanical test equipment and systems, including hydraulic, pneumatic and electromechanical systems. · Work requires the ability to use soldering techniques for building and repairing various types of electrical components including but not limited to circuit boards, cables and assemblies. · Ability to follow strict safety protocols, elevate concerns, follow highly detailed instructions, document discrepancies and resolve conflicts in instructions, tasks or designs. · Detail oriented and an ability to remain highly focused during complex test processes. · Must meet requirements to obtain a secret security clearance which US citizenship is required. · Ability to lift 50 lbs on a routine basis. Basic qualifications level 4 Six years of related experience or a combination of related experience and related education Ability to earn instructor certifications for above certifications and teach these certifications. Experience as an instructor or demonstrated ability involving training and team development. Root Cause / Corrective Action, 8D or similar training and experience. Must meet requirements to obtain a secret security clearance which US citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications both levels Military training and experience - Navy/Marine/Air Force 2M tech certification IPC J-STD-001 certification or Military Equivalent IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification or Military Equivalent IPC/WHMA-A-610 certification or Military Equivalent Active secret clearance Wiring, Harness and PCBA Assembly Specialization LabVIEW experience CAD experience Primary Level Salary Range: $6,350.00 - $105,900.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $75,500.00 - $125,900.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
