Level J $135,280 - $151,474 plus superannuation 1.0 FTE | Ongoing | Broome For more than 150 years, Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) has supported schools and communities across the state. Today, we are Western Australia's second-largest education provider, supporting more than 84,500 students through a network of schools and nearly 14,000 staff. We're seeking an EAL/D Consultant to join our Curriculum team within the Teaching and Learning Directorate based in our Broome Regional Office . The EAL/D Consultant provides leadership and specialist support to build the capacity of teachers and school leaders across Catholic schools in the Kimberley, helping improve outcomes for students who are learning English as an additional language or dialect. The role has a significant impact on teaching quality, student achievement, and culturally responsive educational practices by supporting curriculum implementation, professional learning, data-informed decision making, and targeted EAL/D programs. This is a 1.0FTE ongoing position commencing as soon as practicable. Why Join CEWA? The successful candidate will build trusted partnerships with schools, deliver impactful professional learning, and support the implementation of evidence-based EAL/D strategies that improve student engagement, language development, and educational outcomes. Key responsibilities include: Support school and system initiatives aligned with CECWA’s Strategic Initiatives and Quality Catholic Education. Support the Teaching and Learning Directorate strategic focus areas, including the Vision for Learning. Work as a positive and supportive member of the Broome regional Office Team in providing a coordinated and contextually appropriate response to school support. Build the capacity of educators to support English language and Literacy development among students for whom English is an additional language or dialect. Support school leadership teams and teachers in building capacity in schools to embed effective EAL/D strategies in schools. Support school personnel to interpret and utilise school and system student attainment data to ensure high-quality teaching and learning for EAL/D students. About You The ideal candidate is a highly skilled and collaborative educator with deep expertise in EAL/D teaching and learning, a strong understanding of effective pedagogy, and a passion for improving outcomes for culturally and linguistically diverse students. They will be a proactive relationship-builder who can work confidently with school leaders and teachers, deliver high-quality professional learning, use data to inform practice, and support schools to embed evidence-based EAL/D strategies across the Kimberley region. Essential requirements: Commitment to CEWA’s Vision for Learning. Knowledge and excellent understanding of pedagogical practice. Recent school-based experience with a history of exemplary teaching in EAL/D. Excellent practical and theoretical experience with data analysis. Capacity to work with school leaders and teachers in EAL/D. . Prepared to support the Catholic ethos in the performance of your duties Highly regarded: Specialist EAL/D qualifications, including qualifications in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Applied Linguistics or related fields.
