Enterprise Cloud Data Migration Lead

We are partnering with an enterprise client to execute large-scale legacy platform modernisation and database migrations into cloud environments. We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Cloud Data Migration Lead to represent our organisation and take technical ownership of end-to-end data migration planning, ETL pipelines, data reconciliation, and schema conversion.

In this role, you will bridge legacy database systems and modern cloud data warehouses/lakehouses. You will be instrumental in executing seamless cutovers from legacy on-premises platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata) to modern cloud targets (AWS, Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks), ensuring zero data loss and minimal operational disruption.

Core Responsibilities

• Migration Strategy & Execution: Architect, plan, and execute enterprise-grade database and data warehouse migration strategies from on-premises to the cloud.
• ETL/ELT Data Pipelines: Build robust migration, replication, and transformation pipelines using SQL, Python, AWS DMS, Azure Data Factory, or native replication tools.
• Schema Transformation & Mapping: Convert and optimise legacy schemas, stored procedures, and indexes for modern cloud targets (Snowflake, Databricks, PostgreSQL, or Synapse).
• Data Validation & Reconciliation: Design automated reconciliation scripts, checksums, and validation frameworks to prove 100% data integrity and consistency.
• Cutover & Rollback Planning: Author detailed dry-run runbooks, technical cutover sequences, and rollback protocols for production migrations.
• Stakeholder Alignment: Coordinate with client business leads, application owners, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless data cutovers during planned maintenance windows.
  

Selection Criteria

• Data Migration Mastery: Proven commercial track record leading or executing large-scale data migrations to public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Database & SQL Depth: Expert-level SQL capabilities across relational and analytical engines (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or Teradata).
• Scripting & Pipeline Tools: Hands-on experience with migration tooling (AWS DMS, Azure Data Factory, GoldenGate, or custom Python/Spark pipelines).
• Reconciliation & Governance: Strong methodology in automated data validation, exception handling, and reconciliation frameworks.
• Location Requirements: Currently residing in Australia with valid work rights or eligibility for 482 visa sponsorship/transfer.
