We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The Role

You will join a team of Estates Managers who are professionally responsible for meeting the organisation's key objectives, for the delivery of Patient Care by the provision of effective, efficient, and safe Operation & Maintenance of Estates Services, Systems and Budgetary Resources, Compliance with Statutory Requirements & Mandatory NHS Healthcare Standards & Guidelines, and for the day-to-day operational activities of the Estates Department. Specialist Technical Knowledge for ‘Authorised Person’ responsibilities, responsible for Statutory & Mandatory Services such as Medical Gas Pipe Systems, Pressure Systems, Water Systems, Ventilation Systems, High & Low Voltage Electrical Systems, Fire Compliance, Management of Asbestos, Passenger Lifts and Patient Lifting Aids.

You must have in-depth knowledge of Building Construction and Maintenance. Appointed Authorised Person for Water Safety Compliance overseeing Authorising Engineer Audit Recommendations. Management of FM First PPM & Reactive Maintenance, ensuring delivery of Statutory Compliance and Repairs. Management and participation in Capital and Minor Works Projects from concept to completion, including Survey and Preparation of Contract Documents, Procurement, Cost Control, ensuring Compliance with relevant Standards and Current Guidance.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Duration: Permanent
  • Location: Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Larkfield Road, Greenock, PA16 0XN
  • Work Pattern: Monday to Friday + On Call

Key Responsibilities

NHS delivers services around the clock, and this post requires the successful candidate to participate in Managing & Maintaining an Operational On-Call System.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Highly developed specialist knowledge across the range of work procedures and practices underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience.
  • Academic Qualification to Degree Level in an appropriate subject.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a healthcare or industrial / commercial building services environment.
  • Post graduate qualification in a supplementary discipline, e.g. Mechanical, Electrical or Building.
  • Ideally, membership of a Registered Engineering or Building Institute, e.g. Chartered Institute of Building, Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineering, Institute of Electrical Engineers, Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estates Management etc.

  • UK Driving Licence
