Executive Director of Communications, Alumni Relations, Marketing and Student Recruitment

Competitive Salary

About The Role

Nottingham Trent University is seeking an outstanding strategic leader to shape how the University presents itself to the world and engages with its communities.

The Executive Director of Communications, Alumni Relations, Marketing and Student Recruitment (CAMS) will provide clear strategic leadership across a broad and influential portfolio encompassing domestic and international student recruitment and admissions, brand and marketing, communications and media, alumni relations and philanthropy. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and Registrar, the Executive Director will lead and inspire an award-winning team – bringing its diverse professional capabilities together to ensure that the team makes a compelling contribution to NTU’s continued success.

The successful candidate will have significant experience leading complex, multidisciplinary services and delivering innovation, growth and service excellence. A sophisticated understanding of changing domestic and international student recruitment markets will be supported by the effective use of data and insight to identify opportunities, strengthen conversion and deliver impact. The ability to define and communicate a distinctive institutional story to global markets, harness the potential of digital technologies and AI, and build productive relationships across academic and professional services communities will be essential.

With five University of the Year awards, Gold status in the Teaching Excellence Framework and 83% of its research activity judged to be internationally excellent, the NTU has built a reputation for innovation, inspirational teaching, outstanding student support and research that addresses pressing global challenges. The forthcoming implementation of NTU’s new five-year Strategy provides an opportunity to develop a distinctive brand that reflects the full depth of NTU’s strengths, while extending its reach and influence among prospective students, staff, alumni, donors and civic, research and international partners. Its global community of more than 250,000 alumni provides further potential to strengthen the University’s reputation and reach.

This is an opportunity to join a university with a distinctive culture, strong momentum and a clear sense of purpose. Guided by values that emphasise changing lives, being bold and doing the right thing, NTU is looking for an authentic, visible and empowering leader who can unite specialist teams behind a shared purpose, create the conditions for collaboration and creativity, and translate strategic ambition into measurable results.
