Family Medicine Physician

Calais Community Hospital is seeking a primary care physician for full-spectrum family medicine in our rural health clinic in Calais, Maine. New graduates are welcome and encouraged to apply. J-1 visa candidates are welcome.

About the position and the place

Calais Community Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital serving Washington County on Maine's eastern border. Our rural health clinic is the front door to primary care for this community — the patients you see are your neighbors, and continuity here means following families across decades rather than visits.

Washington County is remote, and we'd rather say so plainly than have you discovered it after signing. The nearest metropolitan airport is roughly three hours away, and winters are long. What comes with that: a working coastline, the Bold Coast trails, the St. Croix River at your back door, some of the best sea kayaking and bird watching in the Northeast, and a cost of living that makes a $300,000 base go considerably further than it would elsewhere. Compensation

• $300,000 base salary with wRVU productivity incentives
• $100,000 signing bonus with a three-year commitment
• $20,000 per year in loan reimbursement
• $35,000 housing allowance toward the purchase of a home
• $15,000 relocation allowance
