Project Overview: The Cold Creek Solar & Storage Project is a large ‑ scale renewable energy development located near San Angelo, Texas, delivering 430 MWac of solar generation paired with a 170 MWac (340 MWh) battery energy storage system. Developed in partnership with Doral Renewables, this project represents one of Bechtel’s largest single ‑ phase solar projects to date and its fifth solar facility in Texas. #LI-BH1 Job Summary: In this role, you will lead a team to plan and execute survey and meteorology strategy, survey scanning, and drone pilot programs supporting a utility-scale sola r . You will supervise survey activities, subcontractors, field verification of materials, and daily data downloading and processing. Your leadership will ensure successful implementation of survey work with a project’s safety, quality, and environmental programs. #LI-BH1 Major Responsibilities: Oversees the survey team’s implementation of the project safety, quality, and environmental programs. Oversees and maintains the project's survey control network, including horizontal and vertical control for civil, structural, and electrical scopes. Provides oversight of survey works by direct hire surveyors across assigned areas, coordinates all Survey activities, and manages Survey Subcontract and resources if applicable. Manages sub-contracted survey crews, including verification of control points, staking accuracy, and as-built deliverables. Provides expertise and technical support as related to survey to Field Engineering and Superintendents in a wide range of situations and configurations, including tracker/pile layout, foundation staking, grading, and equipment pad verification. Develops and maintains the survey and metrology strategy and procedure document, covering equipment requirements, content standards, competence assessments, and accuracy checking, validation, acceptance, and archiving protocols for both conventional survey and scanning/metrology work. Assists the Corporate Survey Manager with competency evaluations and assignments of qualified scanning and metrology survey personnel. Directs and/or performs metrology field measurements utilizing Laser Tracker instrument and Spatial Analyzer software. Provides survey support to senior management, including progress metrics and schedule-critical layout data. Initiates requisitions for field purchases of survey equipment as required. Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely. Proactively pursues continuous learning and professional development relevant to survey technology and methods. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience Required Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience Knowledge of Bechtel’s “Zero Incidents” safety program; a strong personal commitment to safety on and off the job. Knowledge of construction survey principles, including GPS/GNSS, robotic total station, and terrestrial laser scanning methods. Must have a solid record of successful project completion with little to zero rework Knowledge of construction survey principles Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to heavy construction/industrial surveying field & office activities Working knowledge of Bechtel construction procedures Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner Excellent problem-solving ability.
