Strategic Business Impact Our internships are 10-week positions and students have the option to join us on either May 24, 2027 or June 14, 2027. All projects will have significant strategic and/or operating importance to the business to which they are assigned. The Field Sales & Service Intern – Chemical Analysis Division program at Thermo Fisher Scientific offers a unique, immersive opportunity to explore both Sales and Field Service career paths in our mission-driven organization. This foundational internship is designed to introduce you to the key functions of Field Sales and Field Service roles and how they collaborate to ensure customer success. You'll develop the skills, relationships, and knowledge needed to build a long-term career in the field—whether your path leads to Sales, Field Service Engineering, or both. For this role, Summer projects may include the following responsibilities: Learn about our business divisions, instruments, technologies, and the customers we serve across the scientific community. ​ Field Exposure & Ride-Alongs Shadow experienced Sales Representatives and Field Service Engineers in real-world settings to gain first-hand insight into daily field operations. Sales & Service Collaboration Understand how Sales and Field Service teams work together to deliver a seamless, customer-focused experience that drives value and innovation. Manufacturing Site Visit Participate in a guided visit to one of our manufacturing sites to gain exposure to our operations, tour production areas, and gain insight into how our Chemical Analysis Division products are designed, built, and delivered to customers. Skills Development Participate in trainings on: Field service fundamentals & diagnostics Selling techniques & CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tools such as Salesforce.com Customer engagement best practices Escalation management & technical systems Team Culture & Networking Build connections with fellow interns, cross-functional team members, and leadership. This internship fosters a culture of comradery, partnership, and learning—supporting your growth and creating a network of peers across functions and geographies. Post-Internship Path Upon graduation, our goal is to transition successful interns into junior-level full-time roles in either Sales or Field Service, equipped with the foundational knowledge and real-world experience to thrive in your chosen career path. Flexibility and openness to relocation within the U.S. is required based on business needs. Compensation & Relocation Our Undergraduate internships offer an hourly rate between $18.50 - $28.75 dependent upon the role type and location you are supporting (aligned to respective cost-of-living guidelines). If eligible, a relocation stipend is offered in the amount of $5,000 . Students must be located 50+ miles away from the physical location of the internship to be eligible for the relocation stipend. Please note that interns are required to have a reliable mode of transportation to and from their assigned work location for the duration of their internship. What We Look For Academic Background & Work Experience: Undergraduate student completing a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry, Biomedical or a related technical or scientific field between December 2027 – June 2028 . Previous related internships and / or work experience totaling 1+ years experience required. Familiarity with technical drawings, engineering terminology, or scientific instrumentation Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other technical tools Strong interpersonal communication skills, emotional intelligence, and coachability Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment Leadership Profile: Proven leadership experience through student organizations, athletics, Greek life, community service, volunteer organizations, campus programs, military service, or other leadership roles. A track record of influencing others, leading initiatives, driving results, and creating positive impact within teams and organizations. Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, adapt to changing priorities, and solve complex problems. Evidence of grit, resilience, and perseverance when facing challenges, setbacks, or competing priorities. Strong learning agility, intellectual curiosity, and an innovative mindset. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and emotional intelligence, with the ability to build relationships across diverse teams. Geographic mobility and flexibility required to pursue internship and future career opportunities in locations aligned with business needs. Onsite and in-office work is an essential function of this role and is required throughout the program and in future placements to support collaboration across businesses, functions, and locations. Compensation and Benefits The hourly pay range estimated for this position Intern II based in Massachusetts is $26.50–$26.50. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
