Forward Deployed Engineer

Forward Deployed Engineer wanted by an ambitious AI technology company modernising established engineering businesses through AI. This is an opportunity to join as an early member of the team, working directly with the founders and helping shape the technical direction of a platform being built from scratch. This role is based 5 days per week onsite in New York.

This Forward Deployed Engineer role will see you embedded directly with real users inside acquired engineering firms, identifying problems, designing solutions and owning the process from discovery through to production deployment. This is genuine forward-deployed engineering rather than solutions architecture or support – you'll be expected to write production code, make product decisions and see projects through to measurable outcomes.

You'll work across full-stack engineering, AI and automation, using technologies including Python, Next.js, AWS, LLMs, RAG and agent frameworks. You'll sit alongside users, turn messy feedback into clear product decisions and feed what you learn back into the core platform so successful solutions can be scaled across the wider business.

This Forward Deployed Engineer will have significant autonomy from day one, with no requirement for a detailed roadmap or rigid specifications. You'll work directly with founders and other early technical hires, with the opportunity to shape both the product and engineering culture as the company grows.

Forward Deployed Engineer requirements:

• 5+ years' experience in full-stack product engineering, with genuine customer-facing or forward-deployed experience

• Experience owning discovery, build and deployment end-to-end with real users

• Strong production experience with LLMs, RAG, agent frameworks or document parsing

• Strong product judgement and the ability to turn ambiguous user problems into practical software

• Experience at a recognised early-stage startup or strong technical education background

• Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with non-technical users

• High-agency approach with the ability to work independently in zero-to-one environments

• Willingness to travel Monday–Thursday, 2–3 weeks per month

Experience with Python, Next.js, TypeScript, AWS, Pulumi, LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI APIs, browser automation or AEC software integrations would be highly desirable.

This role is 5 days per week onsite in New York, with a strong expectation of travel to acquired engineering firms during the initial 100 days. The company is willing to sponsor H-1B, J, O or TN visas.
