Founding Engineer

About the Role This is a founding engineering role at an a16z-backed AI GTM automation startup, where you'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with the founding team to ship the core product. You'll own major product areas end-to-end — from APIs and backend systems to AI-powered features — with direct, immediate impact on real customers. What You'll Do Collaborate daily with founders in person to define requirements, build features, and iterate rapidly on customer feedback. Build core product infrastructure including APIs, backend systems, and interfaces designed for both human users and AI agents. Ship production-ready AI features that power customer go-to-market workflows end-to-end. Join customer calls to demo solutions, surface needs, and translate insights directly into product improvements. Leverage AI coding agents and the latest tooling to accelerate development velocity with sound engineering judgment. Establish AI-native engineering workflows and processes that scale the team's output over time. What We're Looking For 3+ years of software engineering experience with a strong track record of shipping and iterating in production. Proficiency in Python and TypeScript for building APIs, backend systems, and user interfaces. Solid data modeling fundamentals and experience designing scalable production systems. Hands-on experience building and deploying AI/ML features in production environments. Comfort using AI coding agents and LLM-based development tools as part of a daily workflow. Experience working in early-stage startup environments with close founder collaboration. Ownership-oriented mindset with a desire for real influence over product and roadmap decisions. Bonus: Experience with GTM workflows, outbound campaigns, or customer-facing technical roles. Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $137,000 – $190,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available.
