General Manager

About the role

This is a hands-on role in a small property. The GM is on the floor, not behind a desk. You will report directly to ownership and hold full accountability for commercial performance and service standards.

Responsibilities

• Own the annual budget, forecast, and monthly P&L; present variance analysis to ownership

• Set pricing, rate strategy, and inventory across all channels; grow direct-booking share

• Drive B2B revenue — corporate, embassies, DMCs, luxury travel networks, events

• Full P&L accountability for F&B: restaurant, bar, banqueting, in-room dining

• Maintain service standards consistent with MICHELIN recognition and Forbes criteria

• Recruit, train, and retain the team; own organisational structure and payroll ratio

• Manage preventive maintenance, capex planning, and refurbishment cycles

• Ensure compliance with Moldovan labour, fiscal, fire, HACCP, and licensing requirements

• Represent the hotel with MICHELIN, Forbes, tourism bodies, and cultural partners

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years in hotel management, including 2+ as GM, Hotel Manager, or Deputy GM in a 4–5 star or recognised boutique property

• Demonstrable P&L ownership with evidence of revenue and margin improvement

• Strong F&B background — this is not a rooms-only role

• Revenue management literacy: channel mix, rate parity, forecasting

• Fluent English and Romanian; Russian a strong practical advantage

• Willing to be resident in Chișinău

Preferred

• International luxury-brand experience (Relais & Châteaux, Design Hotels, SLH, or comparable)

• Experience with quality-standard audits (Forbes, LQA, or similar)

• Repositioning or refurbishment experience

• Existing relationships in luxury travel distribution
