Head of Electronics (Robotics / Deep Tech)
Advanced Robotics & Autonomous Systems
Paris, France (Relocation Supported)
Salary: Competitive + variable + equity
Airbotics Talent are partnered with a well-funded European robotics company developing a new generation of advanced autonomous systems.
We are looking for a Head of Electronics to take complete ownership of electronics development across the platform, while building the engineering team around them.
This is not a purely managerial position. You will remain hands-on with electronics design, development and validation while establishing the technical standards and capability required to move complex hardware from prototype into production.
The Role
You will own electronics development end-to-end, from architecture and initial schematic through PCB design, bring-up, validation, certification and production readiness.
This includes:
• Designing analog, digital, mixed-signal and power electronics
• Owning PCB schematic and layout using Altium Designer
• Developing power conversion, motor drive and switching architectures
• Simulating and validating designs using tools such as LTspice, PLECS or Simulink
• Taking electronics through bench bring-up, testing and hardware integration
• Designing for EMC/EMI, grounding, shielding and demanding operating environments
• Embedding DFM/DFA principles to support the transition from prototype to production
• Driving electronics certification and compliance activities
• Working closely with mechanical, embedded software and autonomy teams
• Building and leading an electronics team, including FPGA capability
You will operate as a player-coach: technically close to the hardware while recruiting, developing and leading the team as the organisation scales.
The Person
This role is suited to an electronics leader who has built real hardware and wants to remain close to engineering.
You are likely to have:
• 7+ years of electronics engineering experience within robotics, aerospace, automotive, defense, medical devices or another complex hardware / mobile robotics environment
• Strong hands-on analog, digital and mixed-signal circuit design experience
• Deep knowledge of power electronics, including converters, motor drives, gate drivers and switching systems
• Strong Altium Designer experience across schematic capture and PCB layout
• Experience taking electronics from initial design through physical bring-up and field deployment
• Knowledge of embedded hardware, microcontrollers and common digital interfaces
• Strong understanding of EMC/EMI and high-speed electronics design
• Experience designing hardware with manufacturability and production scale in mind
• Previous experience leading engineers and building high-performing technical teams
• Experience with FPGA interfaces, high-speed buses, electronics certification or hardware operating in harsh environments would be advantageous.
This role is unlikely to be a fit if:
• Your recent experience has moved entirely away from hands-on electronics engineering
• Your background is heavily specialised in digital electronics without strong analog and power electronics capability
• You have not personally taken PCB designs through schematic, layout, bring-up and validation
• You are looking for a purely strategic or people-management leadership role
Why Join?
• Own the electronics architecture of a completely new generation of autonomous systems
• Build the electronics function and team from the ground up
• Remain deeply hands-on while operating at leadership level
• Work across electronics, embedded software, mechanical engineering and autonomy
• Join a well-funded European deep-tech company at a formative stage of growth
This position is based in Paris and requires regular hands-on access to hardware and engineering facilities. Relocation support is available.
