Mission TAR’s mission is to power intelligence for the world. We are building the world’s first off-grid power plant for data centers powered by renewable technologies. We firmly believe AI should be built in the US for the benefit of all people. For that, power must be fast, clean and scalable. We are singularly focused on delivering GW-scale power faster than anyone has ever done, by rethinking every layer of the stack. We vertically integrate to solve every bottleneck, from racking systems to power electronics to dispatch algorithms to on-site construction. Leave your mark on the future of civilization-scale energy infrastructure. Company TAR is both a hardware and software company, we are building out massive, critical, physical infrastructure. (TAR is working directly with one of the largest compute providers to scale and deploy 5GWs by 2028) We operate on… High ownership. High Agency. Own project end-to-end. Great people don’t need to be managed. Speed. We achieve great things on incredible timelines. We push ourselves to go faster. First principles. No ego. No hierarchy. Challenge every assumption. Passion. Solving the energy problem is one of the largest challenges that faces the world now and in the future. About the role As Head of Project Finance, you own that machine end to end, working directly with the founders. You will need to marshal 10s of billions of dollars of capital for massive infrastructure investment. This is as much science as art, as you will be expected to find creative financing and collateralization structures. You design the structure from first principles, defend it in front of credit committees, and close against hard energization dates. Responsibilities Own each financing end to end: structure the capital stack across project equity, construction and term debt, and tax credits, and run lender and investor processes from first outreach through term sheets, documentation, and financial close on schedules that support the build. Set the tax credit monetization strategy (transfer, tax equity, or hybrid) and work with procurement so equipment decisions protect ITC eligibility, including domestic content and FEOC exposure. Build and own the project finance model and the data room, keeping both diligence-grade and tied to engineering, procurement, and commercial reality, and run lender and investor Q&A. Direct third-party diligence, including the independent engineer, insurance advisor, resource and market consultants, and project finance counsel, holding every advisor to scope, schedule, and quality. Build and maintain capital coverage across project finance banks, infrastructure credit funds, tax credit buyers, and project equity investors, keeping a live view of who has appetite at what terms. Shape commercial agreements for financeability, feeding lender requirements into the customer contract, EPC agreements, and major supply agreements before they are signed. Oversee post-close finance operations across the portfolio: the draw process, covenant compliance, and lender reporting. Grow the project finance team and its processes as the program scales from the first project to a multi-GW pipeline. Qualifications 10+ years in US energy project finance across bank lending, financial advisory, or in-house at a developer or IPP, including at least one borrower-side seat. Led non-recourse construction and term financings for utility-scale solar and storage from mandate through financial close, with $500M+ of debt and tax capital personally closed across multiple transactions. Hands-on tax credit monetization since the IRA, spanning transferability and/or tax equity, with working knowledge of domestic content and FEOC rules. Full command of the project finance model: you build it, audit it, and defend it in front of a credit committee without an analyst. Current, personal relationships with the lenders, tax credit buyers, and equity investors active in US renewables. Fluent in finance documentation: able to negotiate the commercial terms of credit agreements, security and accounts structures, and intercreditor terms, with counsel drafting rather than deciding. Thinks from first principles and moves fast with extreme attention to detail: you design financing structures where no template exists and keep them moving at build speed. Nice to have Financing experience with first-of-kind assets: islanded or behind-the-meter plants, single-offtaker structures outside the standard utility PPA mold, or co-located generation and load. Data center or digital infrastructure finance exposure. ERCOT or Texas project experience. Experience standing up a project finance function from scratch. Platform-level capital raising (Series A/B, HoldCo debt, or strategic capital) in addition to asset-level financings.
