The Role

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Healthcare Support Worker to join the South Glasgow Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service. This rewarding community-based role involves supporting individuals experiencing addiction challenges, helping them engage with services and improve their health and wellbeing. Working alongside experienced Addiction Nurses, you will provide both clinical and administrative support while building positive relationships with service users. - You will be based at Rowan Business Park
- Working Pattern: Monday - Friday 9 am - 5 pm
Key Responsibilities
- Support individuals with addiction needs to engage with services and access appropriate care and support
- Assist with the delivery of clinics and undertake delegated clinical duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
- Carry out observations and clinical measurements including blood pressure, height and weight recording
- Collect and process samples and assist with patient assessments and medical appointments
- Undertake joint visits with colleagues and contribute to supporting service users within the community
- Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic systems in line with local procedures
- Provide administrative support including appointment booking, telephone enquiries, record keeping and liaison with healthcare professionals
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Previous experience working within addiction services, mental health services or a related healthcare environment
- Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work independently, use initiative and manage time effectively
- Understanding of person-centred care and a commitment to supporting people through recovery journeys
- Basic IT skills with experience of maintaining accurate records and using digital systems
- Venepuncture skills and a full driving licence would be advantageous
