An exciting opportunity has arisen for Healthcare Support Workers to join the team within
Ward 43 at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering safe, effective and person-centred care that enhances the patient experience. Working within a supportive ward environment, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team caring for patients within an acute hospital setting. The ward is committed to supporting staff wellbeing and professional development through mentorship and educational opportunities provided by the Clinical Nurse Educator.

The shift pattern for these roles are
rotational and includes days, nights and weekend working in line with service requirements.
Key Responsibilities
The postholder will support the delivery of high-quality patient care within an acute hospital environment, ensuring safe and effective care that enhances the patient experience. Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, you will utilise a broad range of knowledge and skills to assess, plan and implement patient care. The role includes undertaking and recording patient observations using the National Early Warning Score (NEWS) system, performing venepuncture, cannulation and ECG recording, or developing these skills through training where required. You will be expected to maintain high professional standards, contribute to patient safety and work collaboratively with colleagues to provide compassionate, person-centred care.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential
- Experience working at Band 2 level within an acute hospital setting.
- Ability to demonstrate high standards of patient care.
- Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of person-centred care principles.
- Ability to contribute to the assessment, planning and implementation of patient care.
Desirable
- Experience of recording patient observations using the NEWS system.
- Competency in venepuncture.
- Competency in cannulation.
- Experience of ECG recording.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
- Willingness to undertake training to develop clinical skills where required.
