NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership Provides Clinical Logistics Transport Services Across All Health Boards In Wales Via Its Health Courier Service, And Is Seeking a HGV Driver To Join This Service Based In The Following Areas

  • North Wales Area – Wrexham, Denbigh
  • Mid Wales Area – Powys, Machynlleth
  • South Wales Area – Cardiff, Bridgend, Newport
  • West Wales Area – Swansea, Carmarthen

On average, the service sorts (via its own mail sorting hubs), delivers and collects over 120,000 items of mail/medical notes per week, and transports in excess of 5 million movements of samples of Blood Products and Pathology in accordance with Accord Dangereux Routier, Good Manufacturing Practice & legislative requirements per year. Our core services operates between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday. However, we do operate a small range of services 24 hours a day.

Main duties of the job

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership provides Clinical Logistics Transport Service across all Health Boards in Wales via its Health Courier Service, and is seeking a HGV Driver to join this service based in the South Wales area, serving all Wales.

On average, the service sorts (via its own mail sorting hubs), delivers and collects over 120,000 items of mail/medical notes per week, and transports in excess of 5 million movements of samples of Blood Products and Pathology in accordance with Accord Dangereux Routier, Good Manufacturing Practice & legislative requirements per year.

*THIS ROLE REQUIRES HGV CAT C LICENCE AND CPC*

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Full Driving License
  • Moving and Handling techniques, and general awareness of risk, health and safety issues and responsibilities.

Desirable criteria

  • Good interpersonal skills, able to establish productive working relationships with colleagues, external contacts and, where necessary, with patients and members of the public

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Driving a range of vans/ light commercial vehicles
  • Dealing with customers and liaison with internal and external NHS contacts, patients and public

Desirable criteria

  • Ability to work alone with minimum supervision or as a member of a team
