Davidson is proud to partner with Katherine West Health Board (KWHB), an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation providing primary healthcare and health-related programs to Aboriginal communities across approximately 162,000km² of the remote Katherine West region.




KWHB has experienced significant organisational growth and is continuing to strengthen its Human Resources function to support its expanding workforce.




We're now seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join the team in Katherine.




Internally titled Workforce Coordinator, this is a broad, hands-on HR advisory role working closely with the Senior Manager Human Resources and supporting managers and employees across the organisation.

The opportunity

You'll become a trusted member of a growing HR team, providing practical advice and support across the employee lifecycle.




No two days are likely to look exactly the same.




You'll support managers with day-to-day HR matters, prepare employment documentation, oversee workforce compliance, contribute to HR reporting and process improvement, and help ensure employees joining KWHB have a consistent and culturally appropriate experience.




You'll also have exposure to workplace reviews and investigations, workforce planning and broader organisational improvement initiatives.




Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing practical HR advice and support to managers and employees
  
• Interpreting and applying HR policies, procedures, employment legislation and relevant industrial instruments
  
• Preparing contracts, variations, secondments and other employment documentation
  
• Supporting recruitment, onboarding, induction and offboarding
  
• Monitoring licences, registrations, checks, certifications and other workforce compliance requirements
  
• Supporting remuneration changes, pay progression, allowances and contractual changes
  
• Maintaining accurate employee records and HR information systems
  
• Coordinating workforce logistics including travel, accommodation and remote workforce requirements
  
• Preparing workforce reporting and identifying trends, risks and opportunities
  
• Contributing to HR policy, procedure and process improvement
  
• Supporting workplace reviews and investigations as required
  
• Contributing to culturally appropriate induction, orientation and workforce development activities.
  
  
  
  
  The position also provides an opportunity to support and mentor less experienced HR and administrative team members as the function continues to evolve.
  
  
  
  
  About you
  
  We're looking for an experienced HR generalist who is comfortable providing practical advice and doesn't need every answer handed to them.
  
  
  
  
  You don't need to be the finished product or an ER/IR specialist. You do, however, need enough HR experience and judgement to work through an issue, interpret the relevant policy or legislation, provide sensible advice and recognise when something needs to be escalated.
  
  
  
  
  You'll ideally bring:
  
• Experience at HR Advisor, People & Culture Advisor, Senior HR Coordinator or similar level
  
• Practical experience providing HR advice and support to managers
  
• Sound knowledge of HR policies, procedures and relevant employment legislation
  
• Experience across employment documentation and employee lifecycle processes
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
  
• Confidence managing multiple priorities and working autonomously
  
• Strong administration, systems and attention to detail
  
• Sound judgement, discretion and professionalism
  
• A practical, solutions-focused approach
  
• The ability to build trusted relationships across a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce.
  
  
  
  
  Experience in health, community services, government, not-for-profit or an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation would be highly regarded, but isn't essential.
  
  
  
  
  A qualification in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline is desirable rather than mandatory, with equivalent relevant experience also considered.

  This role is about more than providing HR advice from behind a desk.
  
  
  
  
  KWHB supports employees across Katherine and remote Aboriginal communities throughout the Katherine West region.   Before you apply
  
  This is a full-time permanent role based in Katherine, Northern Territory.
  
  The successful candidate will need:
  
• A current NT Driver's Licence or the ability to obtain one
  
• A current NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card) or ability to obtain
  
• A current Criminal History Check or ability to obtain
  
• COVID-19 immunisation - minimum one dose
  
• High-level computer skills including Microsoft Office and HR information systems
  
• The ability and willingness to travel to remote locations by road and/or light aircraft
  
• A demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal cultural values and commitment to the advancement and self-determination of Aboriginal communities.
  
  
  
  
  KWHB is also open to considering suitably experienced candidates already living in Australia on a visa, subject to assessment of individual visa conditions and work rights.
