This role is mainly based in the company offices in Gibraltar (Southern Europe) and is NOT a remote role so you must live in the Gibraltar or Southern Spain area already or be prepared to relocate. They are looking for a Network Engineer to join the existing IT department and add value to the experience base available at the company.
This is not a remote role so you need to attend the office 3 days a week.
What is the plan for the Network Engineer role?
You will be exposed to a variety of technologies from MPLS and IPTV along with security. The team is also responsible for the corporate infrastructure and works closely with the systems team to ensure maximum service uptime. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in an ISP/MSP setting.
What will you do as a Network Engineer?
• Deliver a variety of services across PON, MPLS and IPTV infrastructure.
• Monitoring and management of various cutting edge core infrastructures, including on-going maintenance.
• Implementation of change controls across the various technology stacks.
• Provide escalation support for customers via the service desk.
• Provide escalation support for other internal business units.
• Deliver key projects in line with business requirements, and senior members of the team across security and network disciplines.
• Provide out of hours support as part of a rotation with the rest of the team.
• Become a key member in the testing of new services and solutions for both internal and external customers.
• Maintain technical documents for customer solutions and key services.
• Investigate faults to an intricate level and investigate security logs for trends and analytics.
What do you know that makes you a great Network Engineer?
• Previous experience working with networking solutions, preferably in a Service Provider environment;
• Practical experience of IP routing in production: OSPF or ISIS, together with a working understanding of BGP.
• Solid layer 2 fundamentals, including VLANs, trunking and spanning tree.
• Confident taking and interpreting packet captures to isolate a fault.
• Must be able to participate in the on-call rotation.
• Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
• Experience in troubleshooting and managing MPLS based networks, including layer 2 and layer 3 VPNs.
• Exposure to technologies such as ISIS, TACACS, PPP, QinQ or EVPN in a service provider setting.
• Hands-on experience with Fortinet security products including secure remote access and analytics.
• Hands-on experience with Juniper and/or Nokia CLI.
• Experience in the management and monitoring of PON based networks.
• Understanding of TV overlay services in a PON environment.
• Foundational understanding of multicast concepts, including IGMP and PIM.
• Experience analysing flow data and network telemetry.
• Previous background in an ISP/MSP environment.
• Linux, and scripting or automation in Python.
Salary £45k - £50k based on experience with package.
