IVY Project Partner for the Interreg project "PROTECHMED" Support promoting innovative solutions for the technological transition of the Mediterranean horticultural sector VOLUNTEER SVI.MED. - EuroMediterranean Center for the Sustainable Development – ETS is looking for an IVY volunteer! The volunteer will support the Interreg project “PROTECHMED - PROmoting innovative solutions for the TECHnological Transition of the MEDiterranean horticultural sector" , under the Programme Interreg NEXT MED . The PROTECHMED project aligns with EU strategic priorities for sustainable agriculture by addressing systemic challenges in the Mediterranean greenhouse sector. It focuses on water management, climate adaptation, and integrating advanced technology to facilitate an ecological and digital transition. At its core, PROTECHMED uses a participatory co-design methodology, actively engaging farmers, researchers, and businesses to develop and validate eco-innovative solutions. Activities include implementing smart technologies like digital monitoring and augmented reality to optimize the use of water, energy, and fertilizers. The project aims to create a transnationally replicable model of sustainable horticulture. This will be achieved through demonstration greenhouses, field training, and knowledge exchange among partners from Italy, Greece, Tunisia, Turkey, Lebanon, and Malta. The volunteer will be carrying out the following tasks and activities: actively contribute to the organization and facilitation of co-design workshops, meetings, and focus groups involving a range of stakeholders, including farmers, technicians, and researchers; be closely involved in the planning of the participation of next project meeting in Tunisia and of participation to COP 31 in Turkey (November 2026); support the project's communication and dissemination activities by creating and managing content aimed at promoting project outcomes through local and international channels. ETS – Sviluppo Mediterraneo Department Interreg Volunteer Youth Locations Ragusa How we support you Financial support Every volunteer receives a stipend to cover expenses for food and accommodation. The amount provided allows them to live in similar conditions as the local population where they are volunteering, and ranges from 21.48 EUR to 92.96 EUR per day. Insurance IVY volunteers are fully covered with health, liability and accident insurance. AEBR arranges the policies for you for the entire duration of the experience, if needed. Contribution to travel costs Travel costs to relocate are covered by AEBR, based on lump sums according to the distance between the host organisation and your place of residence. The sum is allocated depending on the distance in km. Visa Volunteers are responsible for ensuring that they have the appropriate visa, residence permit, or any other authorization required to legally enter, reside, and carry out their volunteering activity in the hosting country. Once selected, volunteers are expected to complete all necessary administrative procedures, and submit the required documentation to the relevant authorities. For eligible volunteers relocating between countries participating in the IVY initiative, IVY will reimburse the costs associated with obtaining the required visa, and provide invitation letters and proof of financial means. However, the responsibility for identifying the correct visa, preparing the application, and completing the necessary formalities remains with the volunteer. Along with local actors, IVY volunteers tackle the challenges that Europe and its neighbouring regions are facing, helping to find and implement common solutions.
