Full and Part time opportunities including Fixed Term Contract for 12 months.

Come and join our team at this extremely exciting time as we have now moved into our new Adult Emergency Department and our new Children's Emergency Unit .

Our Emergency department provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients with emergency conditions, serious injuries or illnesses as well as minor injuries. It is a very busy department, with 78,000 patients being treated in the past 12 months. We are looking for an experienced Emergency Nurses/Paramedic to join our dynamic and supportive team as Sister or Charge Nurse to help us to further develop our services and provide the highest standards of patient care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in providing effective nursing leadership supporting a team of nurses ensuring the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) code of conduct is at the forefront of the team's nursing care. In addition, the post holder will be required to work closely with the multi-disciplinary team in the provision of a high standard of individualised patient care, thus improving the patient experience. The position supports a clinical role in addition to assisting in the management of operational issues. The post will incorporate the provision of care to patients, their families and carers' in accordance with the philosophy and standards of care within the clinical area; in line with Trust policies and procedures, ensuring that values and beliefs are upheld.

Additionally, you will demonstrate continuing professional development, reflecting individual needs, the needs of the team, and the needs of the organisation.

Job Description

Job responsibilities

As a Sister/Charge Nurse you will be responsible for providing effective nursing leadership to a team of nurses working within the Emergency Department. You will be expected to take charge of the department, coordinating the day to day activities with will provide you with the opportunity to develop your managerial and shift leader skills.

The successful applicant will be required to work and manage all areas within the department and demonstrate a professional manner, clinical expertise with good communication skills in all aspects of their work. You must be comfortable working in a busy environment juggling the different demands typical of a nursing role like this and must possess the courage to do what is right for our patients.

This is an exciting time of change within the department, with a new senior team in place, and a number of new initiatives underway, including a Development Programme for all staff with clear training and continuing professional development plans, and the joint working with the front door departments.
