Lab Assistant - Dhasarathy Lab

Salary/Position Classification $15.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime) 20 hours per week 100% Remote Work Availability: No Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): No Purpose of Position This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position. Our lab studies how cells behave in three-dimensional environments that better mimic native bone and joint tissue. We use 3D culture systems — including hydrogels, scaffolds, spheroids/organoids — to investigate how chondrocytes, endothelial, and synovial cells respond to biochemical and mechanical cues. We are looking for a motivated undergraduate to join the team and contribute directly to ongoing experiments. Duties & Responsibilities Maintain sterile cell culture technique for primary and/or immortalized cell lines Prepare 3D cultures Perform routine cell culture tasks: feeding, passaging, viability assays Assist with sample collection and downstream analyses (e.g., immunostaining, qPCR, microscopy) Record detailed, accurate notes in lab notebooks and shared data files Attend and participate in weekly lab meetings Follow all lab safety protocols and institutional biosafety guidelines Minimum Requirements Currently enrolled undergraduate student at UND Completed coursework in cell biology, genetics, general chemistry, analytical chemistry Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable following precise protocols Able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule Prior wet-lab or cell culture experience Familiarity with basic microscopy or image analysis software Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
