With a strong track record in the oil refining, terminals, LNG, and renewables industries, InSite combines its specialist expertise with the scale, capability and global reach of the Vulcain group to help clients meet the challenges of the energy transition and deliver projects that support a more sustainable future.

Our team of experienced engineers and designers bring technical expertise and industry insight to every project, offering value, assurance, and innovative thinking from concept to execution. InSite specialises in conceptualising, designing, and supporting projects that have a lasting, positive impact on the world of tomorrow.

The Position: Lead Civil & Structural Engineer

As the Civil & Structural Lead Engineer, you will oversee civil and structural scope on projects, working closely with the Technical Authority, Engineering Manager, project managers, clients and other discipline leads. You will manage engineering deliverables from concept and feasibility through FEED and detailed design, ensuring robust definition aligned with project requirements and industry standards.

You will also support discipline planning and resource allocation, helping ensure the right capability is deployed to the right projects at the right time.

Some of the main responsibilities of Lead Civil and Structural Engineer will include:

  • Lead our civil and structural (C&S) engineering capability and personnel across multiple projects.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design and technical interfaces whilst developing civil and structural design deliverables across the full lifecycle (Concept, Feasibility, FEED, Detailed Design).
  • Oversee layout development, civil and structural design and calculation reporting.
  • Collaborate with C&S Technical Authority and Engineering Manager to maintain technical standards.
  • Review and check technical deliverables, raising technical queries as required.
  • Responsible for functional development, assisting with capability growth, onboarding and mentoring new team members, as well as providing coaching & guidance to our civil and structural engineers and designers.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of tools, processes and templates.
  • Support proposals, estimates and design planning inputs.

Preferred Profile:

We are looking for individuals who can bring the following skills and experience:

  • Experience of leading civil and structural deliverables in an EPC project environment, ideally from an engineering and design consultancy setting.
  • Have previously delivered design packages across Concept, FEED and Detailed Design for Oil & Gas, Energy, COMAH, Industrial, or similar projects.
  • Strong understanding of civil and structural design development with knowledge of relevant codes, standards and industry practices.
  • Comfortable coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams, and confident engaging with EPC contractors & owners / operators.
  • Brownfield or modification project exposure is an advantage.
  • Ideally, a Chartered Engineer (ICE and/or IStructE).
  • Reside locally to Pembrokeshire.

Please note many of our UK projects require high-level security clearance meaning that visa sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case-by-case basis, depending on role criticality and project needs.

We offer a competitive salary tailored to your experience and background. Whether you're earlier in your career or bring more senior-level expertise, we encourage you to apply if this role aligns with your skills, or if you're open to discussing other opportunities within our business and wider Vulcain Engineering Group.

We also offer a benefits package, both standard and enhanced, which is designed to support your wellbeing, development, and financial future, including:

  • Annual Leave + Bank Holidays
  • Pension Scheme
  • Life Insurance and long-term sickness cover
  • Medical cover and Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
  • Maternity, Paternity Leave
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Training & Development, including additional qualifications and accreditations relevant to your role
