Lead Electrical Engineer

Our client is a leading engineering organisation in the Netherlands, specialising in the design, implementation, and management of high-voltage systems. With a strong focus on grid modernisation and the energy transition, they are looking for a Lead Primary Design Engineer to strengthen their growing team.

The Role

As Lead Primary Design Engineer, you will take technical ownership of high-voltage primary engineering projects from concept and basic design through to detailed design and project delivery.

You will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, develop innovative technical solutions, and ensure projects are delivered to the highest engineering standards.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead internal and external engineering teams throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Develop and review designs for HV primary systems and associated support structures.
• Translate client requirements and functional specifications into practical engineering solutions.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, technical reports, and project documentation.
• Support project execution from early-stage design through commissioning and delivery.
• Perform technical reviews and quality checks to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
• Collaborate closely with secondary, civil, and structural engineering disciplines.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges while ensuring project objectives are achieved.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong experience in High Voltage Primary Engineering.
• Knowledge of HV equipment such as power transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, current transformers, and voltage transformers.
• Experience with HV substations, cable connections, overhead line interfaces, and supporting structures.
• Previous experience leading engineering teams or coordinating technical project activities.
• Good understanding of IEC standards and relevant HV design practices.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent English communication skills.
