Job Title: Lead Mechanical VAVE Engineer

Job Location: Greater Logansport, IN (Relocation assistance provided)

Salary: $120K to $140K per year plus a bonus and additional Benefits For Example: Relocation assistance)

Overview:

The Lead Mechanical VAVE Engineer drives Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives across vehicle platforms. This role focuses on cost optimization, design innovation, and delivering high-quality, manufacturable engineering solutions aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end VA/VE initiatives from concept to production.
• Design and develop vehicle conversions using CAD tools (Inventor).
• Engineer and integrate vehicle systems (structures, suspensions, mechanisms, closures).
• Identify cost-saving opportunities while improving performance and quality.
• Build and manage a pipeline of design optimization ideas.
• Align design, procurement, and validation with APQP/stage-gate processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, etc.).
• Drive standardization, common design strategies, and low-cost alternatives.
• Support prototype development and validation activities.
• Lead design reviews and ensure targets for cost, quality, and timing are met.
• Continuously improve engineering processes and product designs.

Required Skills & Expertise:

• Strong experience in vehicle system design and integration.
• Expertise in structural design, sheet metal, welding, and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of automotive systems (fuel, braking, cooling, exhaust).
• Proficiency in FEA, DFMEA/PFMEA, DFM/DFA, GD&T, DOE, and tolerance stack-up.
• Solid material selection and cost optimization skills.
• Experience with CAD tools (Inventor, AutoCAD) and ERP systems.
• Strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• 4+ years of automotive mechanical design experience.
• Experience with vehicle launch or assembly environment (preferred).
• Strong understanding of GD&T and dimensional management.
• Experience with steel and aluminum component design.
