Position Title: Mammographer - Breast Health Network - Edmond Department: BHN-Edmond Job Description: Job Description This position may be filled as a Mammographer Level 1, 2, or 3, depending on individual experience, certifications, education, and other qualifications. Special Benefits: Sign-on bonus up to $10,000 for qualified individuals Student loan repayment up to $25,000 Relocation assistance if moving 100+ miles General Description: The Mammographer performs specialized breast imaging services on OU Health patients to aid Providers in the diagnosis, care, treatment and surveillance of breast conditions, defects and/or diseases. This position is intended for those who are gaining experience as a Mammographer or experienced imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in Mammography. Work is typically performed in outpatient environments across OU Health locations. Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities, with or without an accommodation, may result in disqualification from the position. Under general supervision, performs diagnostic imaging on patients as ordered by a care provider. Ensures testing is performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient‑centric care. Prepares patients for procedures and reviews clinical history to align with provider-ordered tests. Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, provides clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines. Collaborates with team members across OU Health including Providers to provide exceptional patient care. Utilizes a variety of highly specialized mammography equipment and techniques to perform diagnostic procedures in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines. Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented and align with departmental and accreditation standards. Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings and prepares study for reporting by physician. Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines. Ensures that technical quality of testing meets established protocols and applicable accreditation standards. Assists with quality assurance and performance improvement tasks as requested. May support OU Health's academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program. May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members. Assists with onboarding of new team members. Supports inventory tasks as needed to help ensure supplies are available. General Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications (Level 1): Education: Graduate of an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARRT. Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements. Experience: No prior experience required. License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon hire. ARRT(RT)(M) required within 1 year of hire. Minimum Qualifications (Level 2): Education: Associate's Degree from an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARDMS, ARRT and/or CCI. Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a Mammographer required. License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon hire. ARRT(RT)(M) required. Minimum Qualifications (Level 3): Education: Associate's Degree from an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARDMS, ARRT and/or CCI. Experience: At least 5 years of experience as a Mammographer required. License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. ARRT(RT)(M) required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Skill in applying principles of mammography and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology, positioning of patients, and medical ethics. Demonstrates foundational knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, basic mammography principles and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology. Applies core mammography theory, practice and techniques to perform examinations and complete basic post-processing analysis, and documentation with general supervision or assistance. Demonstrates clear and respectful verbal and written communication skills to exchange basic information with patients, families, and team members. Ability to prioritize and complete assigned clinical and non‑clinical work tasks with guidance and direction, progressively developing independence in managing routine responsibilities. Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain composed in stressful situations with guidance and support, progressively developing effective coping and prioritization skills.
