About the Role We are seeking a highly experienced and influential leader to join the Copper South Australia (CuSA) Major Projects Portfolio as Area Manager Commissioning. Reporting to the CuSA Major Projects Portfolio Commissioning Manager, this Adelaide-based role is responsible for providing commissioning leadership, governance and assurance across major projects. Working closely with senior project leaders, operational stakeholders and EPCM partners, you will ensure commissioning requirements are effectively integrated throughout project development and delivery, supporting safe, efficient and successful handover, start-up and ramp-up outcomes. Leading a team of commissioning professionals, you will represent the Owner's Team and provide strategic direction, technical guidance and assurance to project teams and external delivery partners. The successful candidate will play a critical role in embedding commissioning excellence, driving consistency and governance, and ensuring commissioning, operational readiness and handover objectives are achieved in alignment with project and business requirements. Travel between Adelaide and operational sites will be required. Key Accountabilities Provide Owner’s Team leadership and governance for commissioning performance and outcomes across the Project Develop and maintain project commissioning strategies, assurance frameworks and governance processes that balance risk, opportunity and delivery objectives. Provide oversight and assurance of EPCM contractors and specialist delivery partners to ensure commissioning requirements are effectively integrated and delivered. Ensure commissioning, completions, operational readiness, handover and start-up requirements are embedded within engineering, procurement, construction and execution planning activities. Collaborate with Operations to establish readiness requirements, acceptance criteria and successful asset handover outcomes. Provide technical leadership, assurance and guidance to commissioning teams and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Influence senior stakeholders across Project, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and Technology teams to optimise project outcomes and manage key interfaces. Drive continuous improvement, lessons learned and standardisation of commissioning practices across the Major Projects Portfolio. Operating within a supportive and outcome-focused environment, you will provide leadership and influence across the Major Projects Portfolio, driving commissioning excellence through effective governance, assurance and continuous improvement. You will apply your technical expertise, business acumen and stakeholder engagement skills to support successful project delivery, operational readiness and sustainable business outcomes. About You Tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related technical discipline. Extensive commissioning leadership experience on large-scale mining, minerals processing or infrastructure projects. Demonstrated experience working within, supporting or providing assurance over EPCM delivery models. Proven capability managing and influencing multidisciplinary teams, EPCM contractors and external delivery partners in complex project environments. Significant experience associated with underground mining developments and/or concentrator projects is highly desirable. Strong understanding of operational readiness, completions, commissioning, start-up and handover governance processes. Well-developed stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with the ability to work effectively across both project and operational organisations. Strong commercial acumen, risk management capability and experience providing assurance and governance within major project environments. Experience on major projects exceeding $1B in value is highly desirable. This role is Adelaide-based, with relocation support available.
