Marine and Offshore Bureau Veritas Australia New Zealand – Marine and Offshore division is seeking a Marine Surveyor to contribute to the growth of our Classification business across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. The job incumbent is responsible for conducting quality inspection of ships in service or construction to determine their conformity with specified requirements (Bureau Veritas rules, International Maritime Organizations, National Regulations, Standards IACS Requirements, etc.) or to attest a given situation of a ship. The position is full-time and available immediately based in Auckland, New Zealand . Responsibilities Undertake classification / certification and statutory surveys and inspections of ships-in-service and ships in construction, according to rules and regulations. Carry out ISM/ISPS/MLC audits, as assigned by supervisor. Carry out Marine Equipment inspections Work closely with internal and external stakeholders and ensure all survey / inspection reports (including survey certificates) are factual, objective and submitted within the stipulated format and timeframe. Keep up to date with new rules, regulations and technical information or process. Carry out all work as per company Procedures and required quality level of service. Assist in developing the Marine Business Performing surveys and other operation work (e.g. Consultancy Work) in and when required, as directed by the management Liaise with other marine staff in Australia/New Zealand and within group where and when necessary to ensure effective and positive co-operations and communications. As the ideal candidate you will bring: Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture/ Mechanical / Marine engineering Minimum 4 years relevant working experience as Ship Project Manager (repair or new construction) /Technical Superintendent / Marine Surveyor or equivalent; or seafaring experience as sea going Chief engineer. Able to travel at short notice locally, interstate within New Zealand, and to the neighboring countries and accept short to mid-term overseas assignments as required. Hold a valid NZ Driving License (unrestricted) Must hold, on commencement, a National Police Clearance. Strong command of English for business purposes (written, conversational and verbal. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes knowledge sharing and teamwork. Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
