Mechanical Design Engineer

Position: Mechanical Design Engineer – Life Sciences

Location: SC (Will sponsor TN Visa for Canadian Visa holders)

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support engineering and design activities for a Life Sciences manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical equipment and process system design within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing environments. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, quality, and project teams to deliver high-quality design solutions while ensuring compliance with GMP and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems, equipment, and process-related components for Life Sciences manufacturing facilities.
• Create and modify 3D models, assemblies, fabrication drawings, and detailed engineering documentation.
• Support equipment selection, specification development, procurement, and vendor coordination.
• Collaborate with process, automation, electrical, validation, and manufacturing teams throughout project execution.
• Review vendor drawings, technical submittals, and equipment documentation for compliance with project requirements.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and engineering change activities.
• Provide field engineering support during equipment installation, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure all designs comply with applicable GMP, FDA, ASME, and company engineering standards.
• Assist with project documentation, technical reports, and engineering deliverables.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of Mechanical Design Engineering experience.
• Experience within Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Medical Device industries.
• Proficiency in one or more CAD platforms:
• SolidWorks
• AutoCAD
• Creo
• Autodesk Inventor
• Experience designing manufacturing equipment, process systems, or mechanical assemblies.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, mechanical components, and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
