The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) is a private diplomacy organisation founded on the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence. Its mission is to help prevent, mitigate and resolve armed conflict through dialogue and mediation. HD operates in more than 40 countries with more than 300 staff. HD is currently looking for a:

Mediation Support Officer

Based in Geneva, 100%

Starting date: November 2026

This position is located within the HD’s Mediation Support and Policy directorate (MESU) and specifically Mediation Guidance and Training team. It offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic team, supporting HD operations. Its main purpose is to strengthen hands-on support MESU provides to HD teams on the ground.

In this role, you will:

• Provide operational support to HD teams, including through field deployments, and surge capacity with the launching of new initiatives.
• Ensure the development and delivery of mediation training courses and capacity building events for HD staff, partners and dialogue stakeholders.
• Support the Program Manager in producing guidance products.
• Draw lessons from HD inter-state dialogues, develop related knowledge products, foster innovation, and contribute to policy discussions in Geneva and elsewhere.
• Organise strategic convenings in Geneva, including high-level dialogue meetings hosted by HD and internal learning workshops to foster cross-regional learning, innovation and preparedness.
• Pilot the integration of Artificial Intelligence tools in HD’s mediation support approach.
• Represent HD in policy events, network meetings and donor briefings.
• Contribute to MESU-led mediation support engagements and internal events

You will thrive in this role if you have:

• At least 5 and up to 10 years of experience in mediation support and peacebuilding, preferably with experience in a conflict-affected or post-conflict context and working directly with mediators and conflict parties.
• Advanced university degree in a relevant field, such as international affairs, peace and conflict studies.
• Experience in training design and facilitation.
• Experience in using AI tools for mediation support.
• Experience in mediation of security arrangements is an asset.
• Excellent English (C1 minimum); other languages are an asset (Arabic, French, Spanish).
• Strong writing and analytical skills.
• Strong organisational skills.
• Capacity to work autonomously while collaborating closely within a team.
• Adaptability and flexibility.
• Curiosity and ability to learn fast.

The position is in Geneva. Candidates from any nationality can apply, as HD sponsors work permits.

This position requires travel.
