5V Tech are working with a fast-scaling AI hardware company building a new class of AI accelerator, designed to run the world's largest language models dramatically faster than existing systems. They work at the intersection of cutting-edge hardware and software, with modern offices in central Bristol.

As part of their Simulation and Modelling team, they're now looking for a Modelling Engineer to build the high-fidelity pre-silicon models that shape the company's architecture, performance and product design long before hardware exists. This isn't a support function, it's the group that defines how the hardware behaves.

What you'll be working on:

• Developing pre-silicon models of AI acceleration hardware
• Architectural exploration and definition
• Functional modelling
• Performance modelling and bottleneck analysis
• Early software development on virtual platforms
• Working closely with hardware, software and ML teams in a true hardware/software co-design loop

What they're looking for:

• Extensive relevant experience in pre-silicon modelling
• Experience with pre-silicon modelling of complex semiconductor IP
• SystemC or equivalent modelling frameworks (e.g. OSCI TLM)
• C++ for high-performance simulation
• Performance modelling and architectural analysis
• Verification and functional modelling
• Ability to operate across architecture, performance and functional correctness

Bonus points:

• Experience with ML workloads or ML accelerator architectures
• Prior startup or small-team experience

Please note: this role requires genuine hardware modelling experience. Software or ML engineers without hands-on pre-silicon or hardware modelling depth won't be a fit for this opportunity.
