How can you make a difference? UNICEF in Vientiane, Lao PDR is looking for National consultant to support training of Lao Youth Union hotline staff. The duration of this assignment is 6 months, starting as soon as possible and the consultant shall be home based. Summary of key functions/accountabilities: The consultancy contributes to the implementation of the UNICEF Lao PDR Country Programme 2022-2026, contributing to developing and strengthening Child Protection System strengthening, notably Outcome: By 2026, more children are better protected from violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation and harmful practices and benefit from strengthened child protection system, services and improved behaviour, and one output: • Output 2: Government and other service providers, including but not limited to the social welfare and justice sectors, at national and sub-national levels have strengthened capacity to deliver integrated, gender- and disability responsive child protection and childcare services in develop and emergency contexts. Under the supervision of the Child Protection Specialist, and in close collaboration with the Child Protection Officer, the consultant will have key accountabilities, duties and tasks are as follows: The consultant will: Develop a training package (PowerPoint presentation and facilitator's guide) on the Child Protection LYU Hotline, based on a review of available materials, including but not limited to: LYU Hotline guidelines/SOPs Social and Behavioral Change Manual Life Skills Manual International good practices/examples Conduct training in Vientiane (VTE) for the Lao Youth Union (LYU), based on the training package developed above. Develop training materials, based on the training package, including: Short videos, in collaboration with a company contracted by UNICEF for video production A one-pager FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) to support LYU hotline staff If you would like to know more about this position, please review the complete TOR here: TOR for National Consultants LYU hotline for VA.pdf To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… Minimum requirements: Advanced University Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Development Studies, International Relations, or a related field Minimum 5 years of experience in child protection, policy development, or programme planning. Experience in counselling/advising youth, particularly in areas related to child protection and hotline services Demonstrated experience in designing and conducting training programs, including development of training materials (presentations, facilitator guides) Familiarity with child protection systems and referral mechanisms in Lao PDR is an asset Strong facilitation and communication skills, with ability to engage youth audiences Excellent communication and report writing skills in Lao and English.
