Patient Care Coordinator

Medifly

📦Relocation support🛂Visa sponsorship
🇮🇩Indonesia
📁Healthcare/Clinical
Is this job info correct?

Medifly is a doctor-led service for serious medical treatment abroad. Our doctors read patient's case, work out which specialist and which hospital give you the best chance, and stay with you from the first message to the flight home.

You'd be joining a team built to move fast. Our co-founder and CEO, Kevin Cho, is a serial entrepreneur - Forbes 30 Under 30, Y Combinator alum - who spent years inside Asia's largest hospital groups, building the systems they use to care for international patients. Medifly is venture-backed and well capitalised, already moving real patients through partner hospitals, and poised to grow quickly. This is the stage where everything gets decided - and the people who join now are the ones who decide it.

And here's the job in plain terms: we're hiring for this from all over Indonesia - Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Bali, wherever you are. We fly you to Jakarta and train you beside the founding team, then post you to Kuala Lumpur with your living covered - and when your patients move, you move with them: Singapore, South Korea, wherever the case goes. Few jobs let you live abroad, learn a craft this rare, and matter this much to real people, all in the same year.

The Role:

In one sentence: Be the person beside our patients — so nobody goes through treatment abroad alone.

Today, that person is our founder. He still flies with patients himself: airport pickups, consultations, the hard conversations. That doesn't scale, and it shouldn't — this deserves someone who does it as their life's work, and who will one day run the team that does it for every patient we serve.

That's the job. You'll own the patient experience on the ground: every arrival, every consultation, every admission, every discharge — and every plan that changes at 11pm. Your goal is simple to say and hard to do: every Medifly patient understands their care, feels someone is on their side, and goes home able to say "I was never alone."

This is an important role and not a support job. You'll join at the earliest stage of the build, working directly with the founding team to shape how this service runs before taking ownership of it as its leader. Prove it in the field as an individual performer, and you'll be given a team to lead — then the operating model, staffing and quality standards to scale it across every city we serve.

What a real week looks like:

- A patient lands at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. You're there. Their daughter has never left Indonesia and is trying very hard to look calm.

- The specialist explains a treatment plan in fast clinical English. You put it into Bahasa Indonesia the family can actually hold onto — then you notice they nodded without understanding, so you go back and explain it again, differently.

- A scan comes back with something unexpected. The plan changes. The costs change. You're the person who tells them, and the person who then works out what to do about it.

- A procedure is delayed two days. You handle the hotel, the visa runway, the family's employer back home, and the fact that the patient's brother is now angry at the hospital.

If reading that made you think "yes, I can handle that and I'm excited for it" — we should talk. If it made you anxious, this isn't the right role, and that's genuinely okay.

What you'll own:

- Being present. Physically with the patient and family through consultations, admission, procedure, recovery and discharge.

- Translation that goes beyond language. Turning clinical English into Bahasa Indonesia a frightened family can hold onto, and checking for real understanding rather than polite nodding.

- Advocacy. Chasing the specialist, escalating the delay, questioning the bill — making sure our patient isn't the one who gets forgotten because they're foreign and quiet.

- Logistics. Airport, accommodation, transport, food, visas, documents, insurance paperwork, family arrangements.

- The relationship with our hospital partners. You are the face of Medifly inside these hospitals every day.

- Patient stories. With consent and with dignity, helping us show other families that this is possible.

What this role is not:

To be explicit: this is a non-clinical role. Although if you have a medical background and you like the job and the company, feel free to apply. You will not diagnose, prescribe, advise on treatment, or perform any clinical procedure. Clinical decisions belong to the treating physician, and the case review behind our recommendations belongs to our Associate Medical Directors. Your job is to make sure the patient understands those decisions and is supported through them.

You will thrive here if:

- You actually care about patients and enjoy being with them. This is not an easy job, and that is the only thing that makes it fulfilling.

- You're an entrepreneurial operator who loves building 0→1, in a small team, free of bureaucracy.

- You stay calm and useful when a family is falling apart and you're the only one in the room who speaks everyone's language.

- You can make a good decision alone, at night, with no instructions — no two cases are the same.

- Your warmth is real. Patients can tell the difference between someone doing a job and someone who cares. So can we.

- You follow through on the unglamorous things: the call you promised, the document you said you'd chase.

This isn't for you if you need an SOP handed to you before you can move, or you need every week to look like the last one. There is no manual yet — you'll be inventing solutions constantly, and we'll back you when you do.

What we're looking for:

Required

- Fluent Bahasa Indonesia, plus professional working English — enough to follow a specialist doctor at full speed without asking them to slow down.

- A deep working understanding of Indonesian family and healthcare culture: how families reach decisions, who actually decides, what goes unsaid.

- Mobility. You can live anywhere in Indonesia today — we'll fly you to Jakarta for training, then post you to Kuala Lumpur, where you'll spend most of your time (think 90%), with stretches in other cities and countries when a patient needs you there: Singapore, South Korea, and wherever we go next. Genuine availability for irregular hours, overnight calls and multi-day hospital stays at short notice. Medical crises don't respect calendars. We protect your time off seriously, but the job has irregular edges and you should want that.

Strongly Preferred

- A healthcare background — medicine, nursing, midwifery, pharmacy or hospital administration. Not so you can practise, but so you can read a discharge summary, follow a specialist, and know when something is genuinely wrong.

- Or a hospitality background — luxury hotel guest relations, airline cabin crew, concierge or VIP services. If you've spent years anticipating what someone needs before they ask, staying composed while a guest is upset, and quietly fixing things nobody was supposed to notice, you already have most of this job. We'll teach you the clinical vocabulary.

- Prior experience in international patient services or medical travel.

This is the ideal list. If you don't tick every box but you know this role is yours, apply anyway and tell us why.

Where you'll be, and what we cover:

- Training and probation: Jakarta. We fly you in from wherever you are in Indonesia. You'll work from our beautiful office in the Park Hyatt building in Menteng, alongside the founding team — learning cases, hospitals and how we work.

- Then: Kuala Lumpur. Your flat, transportation, health insurance and a food allowance are covered while you're posted there.

- And occasionally: wherever the patient goes. Some cases will take you to other cities and countries with them.

What we offer:

- A defining role at an early-stage, high-growth startup — you shape how this is done rather than inherit how it's done.

- Direct access to and mentorship from the founding team, including our Associate Medical Directors.

- A clear path from individual contributor to leading the patient experience team as we grow into new cities.

- Your Kuala Lumpur living covered — flat, transport, health insurance, food allowance — plus work pass sponsorship.

- Work that visibly changes people's lives. You'll know exactly what you did with your year.

How to apply:

Apply here on LinkedIn — your CV is enough. And if you feel like doing more, email your CV and a short cover letter to [email protected]. Our CEO Kevin reads every application personally.
