The Role
As a Cancer Pathway Coordinator, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of cancer services by ensuring patients with cancer, or those with a suspected cancer diagnosis, progress through their care pathway efficiently.
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and administrative colleagues, you will help deliver a high-quality service that supports patients throughout their journey from referral onwards.
All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- This is a permanent post working full-time hours
- These hours will be worked during standard office hours
- The main base for this post is Glasgow Royal Infirmary. However, travel to other NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde sites will be required to meet the needs of the service.
Key Responsibilities
Working closely with members of the multidisciplinary team and associated administrative staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely movement of patients with cancer, or those with a suspected cancer diagnosis, through their care pathway from referral onwards.
You will coordinate patient pathways, maintain accurate records, and support the achievement of cancer waiting times standards by collecting, analysing and presenting cancer waiting times data. You will liaise with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to help ensure patient pathways are managed efficiently and that information is recorded accurately to support service delivery and reporting.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential
- HNC/SVQ III in Business Administration, Information Management, Information Technology, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software systems.
- Advanced keyboard skills.
Desirable
- Previous experience working within a healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of the computer systems used within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
- An understanding of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of cancer services and cancer referral pathways.
