Join Duke Pediatric Cardiology! Duke Children’s Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center Duke University Medical Center – Durham, North Carolina The Division of Pediatric Cardiology in the Duke Department of Pediatrics invites applications for a Pediatric Cardiac Imager. This position will be based within Duke Children’s Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a nationally recognized, academically driven pediatric and congenital heart program with a robust pediatric cardiology program and comprehensive non-invasive imaging service. For this position, fetal imaging will be a focus, although expertise in transthoracic and transesophageal imaging will also be important to the role. Position Overview The Pediatric Cardiac Imager will play a central role in our pediatric cardiac imaging program. The successful candidate will provide expert fetal echocardiography, contribute to transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiographic imaging across the pediatric and congenital heart disease population, collaborate closely with maternal-fetal medicine, neonatology, congenital cardiac surgery, and multidisciplinary cardiology teams, and contribute to the continued growth of Duke’s cardiac imaging program. Qualifications MD, DO, or MD/PhD with board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Cardiology Advanced fellowship training or demonstrated expertise in pediatric cardiac imaging, including expertise in fetal echo and trans-esophageal echo (TEE) Experience interpreting fetal, TEE, and transthoracic pediatric echocardiograms for congenital and acquired heart disease. Strong interest in academic medicine, including clinical program development, education, quality improvement, and research Candidates with experience in complex fetal cardiac diagnosis, perinatal care planning, multidisciplinary fetal counseling, transthoracic echocardiography, transesophageal imaging, quality and outcomes initiatives, and collaborative care for patients with congenital heart disease are particularly encouraged to apply. Clinical and Academic Responsibilities The Pediatric Fetal Imager will: Provide expert fetal echocardiography and contribute broadly to pediatric/congenital cardiac imaging, including transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography Collaborate closely with maternal-fetal medicine, neonatology, congenital cardiac surgery, cardiac imaging, intensive care, and adult congenital cardiology teams Participate in multidisciplinary fetal case conferences, perinatal planning, family counseling, and longitudinal care coordination Contribute to education and mentorship of fellows, residents, sonographers, and medical students Support quality improvement, outcomes tracking, research, and innovation in fetal cardiology and pediatric cardiac imaging Programmatic Environment Duke Children’s Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center serves a large and diverse fetal, pediatric, and adult congenital population across North Carolina and the Southeast. The fetal cardiology and cardiac imaging programs are integrated within a comprehensive heart center with a longstanding history of excellence in patient care, research, quality, and training.
