Pediatric Ophthalmologist A growing Pediatric Ophthalmology program in Eastern North Carolina is seeking a mission-driven, visionary Pediatric Ophthalmologist to join and help advance a developing academic division. As one of the only pediatric ophthalmologists serving a region of approximately 1.5 million people , this role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful community impact while contributing to program growth and academic development. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for pediatric ophthalmic care , strong leadership and program-building skills , and a commitment to academic medicine , including education and research. This position offers the chance to practice in an innovative, collaborative environment while addressing a significant regional need for pediatric ophthalmology services. The medical center serves as a tertiary referral center , managing a high volume of complex ophthalmic conditions. The ophthalmology service continues to expand across subspecialties and has received ACGME approval to launch a new Ophthalmology residency , with the inaugural class beginning in summer 2026 . The program benefits from a strong hospital-based referral network and community referrals in a region with limited subspecialty coverage.
