📁Healthcare/Clinical
Is this job info correct?
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The Role

Would you like to work with children and young people, supporting them to achieve their goals? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Pharmacist with a strong commitment to patient care to join Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, primarily supporting ADHD clinics.

As a valued member of the multidisciplinary team, you will manage a cohort of patients with ADHD, delivering autonomous clinics with regular clinical supervision from a senior pharmacist. You will also contribute to the ongoing development of the service as it evolves, helping to improve patient access and outcomes.

All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • This is a permanent post
  • You will be working full-time hours (36) Monday to Friday, with working hours yet to be confirmed
  • You will work across Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, primarily supporting ADHD clinics. This is a peripatetic role and travel between sites will be required to support service delivery and manage waiting lists.

Key Responsibilities

You will independently manage a caseload of patients with ADHD, undertaking autonomous pharmacist-led clinics while working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team.

You will be responsible for prescribing and optimising medicines, monitoring treatment outcomes, and providing specialist pharmaceutical care. You will supervise junior pharmacists, clinical pharmacy technicians and trainees, providing professional guidance and supporting their development. As the service continues to evolve, you will be expected to broaden your scope of practice and contribute to service development, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred care.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Essential

  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Independent Prescriber qualification.
  • Working towards or have completed Post-registration Foundation Training.
  • Strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness and ability to travel between sites.

Desirable

  • Relevant post-registration clinical experience.
  • Previous experience in hospital pharmacy.
  • Experience within mental health pharmacy, particularly Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) or ADHD services.

What We Offer

We offer a wide range of supportive policies designed to enhance your employee journey, including a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme, Cycle to Work Scheme, bursary scheme and extensive learning and development opportunities.

As an NHS Scotland employee, you will be entitled to:

  • A minimum of 27 days annual leave, increasing with length of service, plus public holidays
  • Membership of the NHS Pension Scheme, including life insurance benefits
  • Salary Sacrifice Car Benefit Scheme
  • Development opportunities including study bursaries, e-learning and classroom-based courses

AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application, but your answers must be your own.

  • Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically.
  • Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers.
  • Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.

Tip: Think of AI as a helper, not a substitute. We want to understand you, not an AI tool.
