Physician Assistant 2 - Occupational Medicine (DOE/LANL) Location: Los Alamos, NM | Onsite Compensation: $61 - $67/hr Schedule: 3x12 Night Shifts or Weekends Duration: Permanent Position Per Diem / Relocation: Available Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required Why This Role Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a seasoned, experienced Physician Assistant to join its occupational medicine team. This is a fully qualified, career level PA2 position supporting the health and safety of the LANL workforce in one of the nation's most scientifically advanced and mission critical research environments. You will work directly with Laboratory occupational physicians, providing clinical care, managing patient dispositions, identifying and correcting workplace medical issues, and counseling employees on health related matters, all in a setting where the work you do directly supports national security and scientific discovery. Key Responsibilities Assist Laboratory occupational physicians in providing occupational health services, carrying out treatments and managing patient care Perform clinical evaluations, determine appropriate patient dispositions, and arrange follow up care for a diverse occupational health patient population Identify, assess, and help correct workplace medical issues in coordination with occupational physicians and safety staff Counsel and educate employees on occupational and personal health related matters Evaluate medical data and patient information to resolve a broad range of occupational health concerns Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders regarding employee health matters Exercise sound clinical judgment in selecting appropriate methods and techniques for patient care and workplace health solutions Independently plan, prioritize, and organize activities to meet established objectives Contribute to organizational goals through effective occupational medicine practices and recommendations Required Qualifications Board Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Licensed to practice medicine by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners Current New Mexico pharmacy license Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license 2 to 5 years of recent clinical experience in occupational medicine, or in a closely related clinical field such as family medicine, emergency medicine, urgent care medicine, internal medicine, or sports medicine Demonstrated ability to analyze clinical information and resolve a diverse range of complex healthcare issues Ability to work independently with limited supervision Desired Skills Strong occupational health and workplace injury management experience Excellent patient counseling and communication skills Experience educating employees on health and wellness topics Ability to build effective working relationships with physicians, employees, and organizational stakeholders Strong analytical and problem solving skills Demonstrated sound clinical judgment and decision making abilities Experience managing multiple priorities in a dynamic healthcare environment Education and Experience Requirements Board Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) through NCCPA Licensed Physician Assistant in the State of New Mexico Current New Mexico pharmacy license and DEA registration 2 to 5 years of recent clinical experience in occupational medicine or a related clinical specialty, including family medicine, emergency/urgent care medicine, internal medicine, or sports medicine Mandatory Requirements - Read Before Applying S. Citizenship required Board Certified PA-C through NCCPA, with active New Mexico medical, pharmacy, and DEA licensure (or ability to obtain prior to start) Willing and able to work a 3x12 night shift or weekend schedule
