Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking a hands-on Plant Vehicle Engineer to drive launch readiness, production quality, and continuous improvement for our SUV configurations (Open Air, Fastback, and Squareback).

In this role, you will act as the crucial engineering link between the plant floor and cross-functional design teams. Your focus is less on designing new parts and more on protecting product intent, resolving integration issues, and improving build quality in General Assembly. Note: This role does not own production release.

What You Get to Do

• SUV Assembly Support: Serve as the main plant contact for SUV integration across structure, interior, exterior, and restraints.
• Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve production issues like fit/finish, water leaks, wind noise, trim fit, and closure interfaces.
• Root Cause Analysis: Lead containment, look up repair trends, and validate permanent engineering fixes.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Design, Quality, and Suppliers to implement engineering changes and coordinate breakpoints.
• Process Improvement: Optimize work instructions, review PFMEAs, and drive actions to reduce defects and minimize rework.

Success Factors

• Boost first-time quality and minimize repair loops for SUV configurations.
• Accelerate issue resolution through clear triage, documentation, and validation.
• Bridge the feedback loop between the plant floor and Design Engineering.

What You Bring to the Team

• Experience: 5+ years in automotive engineering, launch, quality, or General Assembly (SUV/variant complexity experience preferred).
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or equivalent hands-on automotive launch experience.
• Technical Skills: Strong grasp of BOMs, engineering change control, DFM/DFA, and quality metrics.
• Problem Solving: Ability to diagnose sealing, noise, vibration, and fastening issues on complex vehicle structures.
• Presence: Willingness to spend 50%+ of your time on the plant floor and travel up to 20%.
• Location: Must be willing to relocate to Warsaw, Indiana.
