Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Ground Software Engineer – Telemetry, Tracking, & Command (TT&C) (Level 3) to join our team of highly qualified, diverse professionals within the Western Region Software Engineering Directorate. This position is located onsite in Redondo Beach, CA . The Western Region Software Engineering organization comprises over 800 skilled professionals—including Software Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Database Administrators, and Network Engineers—at every career stage, from early‑career engineers to senior chief engineers and architects. Job responsibilities of the Ground Software Engineer – TT&C (Level) include, but are not limited to, the following: Utilizing technical experience to investigate complex scenarios probing into software and data sets driving the process to a resolution. Interfacing with multifaceted teams, interpreting and troubleshooting issues Designing, developing, and integrating mission‑critical ground software. Developing modular, reusable architectures that reduce overall code footprint while improving maintainability and scalability. Applying strong problem‑solving skills to quickly understand and address complex technical concepts. Preparing charts, presenting data, and providing recommendations to internal teams, program leadership, and external customers, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience or Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 3+ years of stated experience or Ph.D. in a STEM discipline with 1+ years of stated experience. Active DoD Secret Clearance required at the time of application. Experience with full software life cycle (requirement, design, code, test, integration), SW builds, programming standards and practices. Proficiency in one or more of the languages: C/C++, Python, XML, JSON, JavaScript Familiarity with the Red Hat Linux Operating System (OS). Preferred Qualifications: Expertise level of Red Hat Linux and Database environments Languages: Java, SQL, PL/SQL Database: MySQL, Microsoft SQL, Oracle, NoSQL (non-relational database) Understanding of Integration and Test rhythm and workflow Embedded systems software development, integration, and test experience Agile practices and Atlassian suite (Confluence, Jira, Kanban, Bamboo, BitBucket) experience Curious about all the exciting developments with the Northrop Grumman Space Sector? Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
