Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Facilities Mechanical Engineer – Level 3 or Level 4 to join our team in Magna, UT. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work. As a Principal/Sr. Principal Facilities Engineer, Level 3 or Level 4 located in Magna, UT, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off. In this job, you will: Manage projects and coordinate all procurements and installation to meet the program cost and schedule requirements for capital upgrades. Provide engineering design as needed to support the Facilities Engineering Department. This could include: Design mechanical piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) for chemical plant systems including boiler feed and condensate, water treatment, hydraulic, heat transfer systems, conveying systems, and air and gas systems. Prepare design calculations and specifications for major plant related equipment including, but not limited to heat exchangers, industrial chillers, cooling towers, boilers, condensers, and pumps. Prepare mechanical engineering designs, including layout, design sketches, and conceptual design. Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards. Develop schedules, work assignments and staffing requirements to ensure successful project completion. Coordinate with other engineers and craftsman assigned to the project or a task, and reviews work progress and results Providing detailed cost estimates for project design and implementation Preparing specifications for the procurement of pumps, heat exchangers, valves, compressors, tanks, cranes, and other miscellaneous of plant equipment. Review engineering drawings and designs for manufacturability and functionality. Troubleshoot industrial mechanical equipment. Resolve equipment problems in the field through technical assistance with Maintenance Craftsmen. Basic Qualifications for Level 3: Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 1 year of professional experience. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance Industrial process equipment/facilities design: AutoCAD drafting ability Solid modeling experience a plus; not a requirement Ability to work in the field, climb ladders, work outside, and work in congested areas. Basic Qualifications for Level 4: Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 8 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 6 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 4 years of professional experience. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance Industrial process equipment/facilities design: AutoCAD drafting ability Solid modeling experience a plus; not a requirement Ability to work in the field, climb ladders, work outside and work in congested areas. Preferred Qualifications: Desire, i.e. passion, to build and manufacture support hardware. Chemical processing preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Northrop Grumman Total Rewards Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
