Project Revenue and WBS Management Specialist

Job Summary The Commercial Project & Revenue Specialist is responsible for interpreting customer contracts and translating contractual requirements into compliant Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) that support project execution, billing, and revenue recognition activities. This role ensures the creation, maintenance, and governance of WBS structures throughout the contract lifecycle while supporting accurate financial reporting and operational execution. As part of a newly established Commercial Project & Revenue team, the position contributes to process development, operational scale-up, and SAP S/4HANA implementation activities, enabling the transition to standardized global processes. The full list of our global benefits can be found here: https://www.lonza.com/careers/benefits What you will do: Contract Interpretation & WBS Setup Review customer contracts, statements of work, and commercial agreements to translate contractual requirements into appropriate WBS structures. Create and maintain WBS structures aligned with contractual deliverables, project requirements, and performance obligations. Ensure WBS configurations support operational execution, customer billing, and revenue recognition requirements. Collaborate with Commercial, Program Management, Supply Chain, Operations, and Finance teams to clarify contract requirements and resolve setup-related issues. Support the consistent application of WBS standards, governance requirements, and business rules. WBS Lifecycle Management & Governance Maintain WBS structures throughout the contract lifecycle, including creation, updates, modifications, and closure activities. Execute timely updates to WBS elements resulting from contract amendments, scope changes, pricing revisions, and operational adjustments. Monitor WBS data quality and ensure compliance with established governance standards and controls. Support the accurate and timely closure of completed WBS structures to maintain reliable operational and financial reporting. Identify and resolve data integrity issues impacting project execution, billing, or reporting processes. Revenue Recognition & Process Support Assess whether existing WBS structures effectively support current and evolving revenue recognition models. Identify opportunities for process enhancements and structural improvements to support scalable and compliant operations. Support testing, validation, and implementation of changes related to WBS management and revenue recognition processes. Collaborate with Finance and Commercial stakeholders to ensure alignment between contract structures and revenue recognition requirements. SAP S/4HANA Implementation & Operational Excellence Support SAP S/4HANA implementation and rollout activities related to project structures and WBS management. Participate in System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), issue resolution, and process validation activities. Assist in the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs), templates, and process documentation. Contribute to process harmonization, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives. Support the establishment, growth, and ongoing success of a new global Commercial Project & Revenue operating model. What we are looking for: Education Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Project Management, Supply Chain, or a related field. Experience 5-10 years of experience in Commercial Operations, Project Administration, Revenue Management, Order-to-Cash, Contract Management, Finance Operations, or related business functions. Experience working with Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), project accounting, billing, and revenue-related processes. Experience supporting ERP implementations or business transformation initiatives, preferably SAP S/4HANA. Experience within a global, cross-functional business environment is preferred. Skills Strong understanding of contract-to-cash, project lifecycle, and revenue recognition processes. Knowledge of WBS structures, project systems, and ERP-based commercial processes. Experience with SAP ERP systems; SAP S/4HANA experience preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to interpret contractual requirements and translate them into operational processes. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other business applications. Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to support process standardization and automation initiatives.
